Citizenship Update & QoL Improvements

The Citizenship Upgrade is here! Now your group of adventurers can visit the Tavern and choose to become a Citizen of the town, unlocking some cool new privileges:

  • Luxury Inn: Rest in style at an expensive inn, doubling your recovery rate.
  • Banquet: Celebrate with a full stomach for extra bonuses.
  • Fund Building: Help shape the towns growth and unlock the facilities you need.
  • New Hamlet: Build a new town nearby and expand your territory.
In addition, Ive made several tweaks and improvements based on your feedback:
  • Meteoric Bow now deals splash damage.
  • Dialogue Streamlining: Internal changes made to prepare for the upcoming Mod Support update.
  • Map Interaction: Pressing Esc now clears the MapQuery. If no query is active, it opens the Menu.
  • Status Change: Boost Armor now increases Armor by +2 and removes the Damaged Armor status.
  • Combat Bar Update: Added action indicator for better clarity during combat.
  • Dual Wilder:
    • Offhand weapons now deal half the damage of the corresponding hand weapon of the same tier.
    • Adjusted damage amplitudes to better balance two-handed and hand/offhand weapons:
      • Two-Handed:
        • .10 .25

Bug Bashing

Hello everyone! Some pesky bugs made their way into the Steam version, but thanks to your sharp eyes and valuable feedback, we're squashing them fast. Big thanks, and sorry for the hiccups! Changelog:

  • Undead Immunity: Removed wound immunity.
  • Mindless: Now only immune to Mind Control and Mind Leak.
  • Evil Centers: No more commoners. Stronger enemies await.
  • Swift Dispel: Now hits adjacent targets.
  • Sticks and Stones: on New Game, always starts with clubs, basic armor, shield, and 1000 coins.
  • [BUG] New game couldnt be created without an existing save file.
  • [BUG] Vines on dungeon crates were crashing the game.
  • [BUG] Illusions were damaging mindless enemies.
  • [BUG] On Craft, switching from Modify to Craft was losing the item info.
Thanks again for all the help tracking these bugs down. You're truly the best players a solo dev could wish for. =] Cheers!

Some Changes and a Fix

Starting the week strong with a fast update! I was already cooking a few improvements and the QA already gave the green light, so I decided to bundle them with a critical bug fix. This patch brings balance tweaks, QoL upgrades, some love to towns and Evil Centers and a few spicy skill changes. Patch Notes:

  • Party Screen: Click 'R' or 'S' to jump straight to the Relations or Skills menu.
  • Overseer Routine: Every in-game day, the map now checks if each race has a Town. If not, one will be created.
  • Pan on Edge: New option to toggle edge-panning on or off in the Options menu.
  • Skill XP: Arcane Traits and Arcane Focus now grant extra skill uses for Mastery progression.
  • Multiple Master Skills: Characters can now hold multiple Master Skills, as long as they arent in a Master Quest.
  • Town Shop Balance:
    • Reduced base sell modifiers.
    • Town Shop Events: cap the buy/sell bonus to 50%.
    • UI tweaks to fit more buttons on the left panel.
  • Evil Centers: Difficulty now scales with your partys level. Good luck! XD
  • New Game+: On starting a new game, choose to keep your current party or make a new one. Pick a fresh world either way.
  • Skill Changes:
    • Shadow Move: Teleport (Speed x2)
    • Far Shadow Move: Speed x3
    • Dodging Shadow Move: Guard Bonus (Speed x2)
    • Defensive Shadow Move: Guard Bonus (Speed x2)
    • Black Magic: Now have Drain 2.
    • Hold Crowd & Hold Horde: Now are friendly fire.
  • Legendaries: Can now be modified.
  • Illusory Mage (Master Skill): Added skills: Passive True Sight, Mind Leak, Counterspell.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed crash caused by Vine spells.

Hey-a, adventurers! You ask, and I deliver! As youve probably noticed, Im very active on the Steam forums, listening to your feedback and working hard to bring your suggestions to life. I want Endless RPG to be the best it can be, and that means updates, improvements, and, of course, squashing bugs (you know how much I hate those). Heres whats new in Update 0.8.8f: Changes & Improvements: Balancing Ruins and Caves adjusted (more tweaks coming!). Magic as a Stat Now visible on Combat Query and Party Screen. ESC Key Fix Now properly closes info panels. Guard Bonus Limit Capped at 20 for a simpler, more intuitive system, any new bonus is just added to the Guard pool until 20 at maximum. Splash Damage Adjustment Now deals half-damage instead of 7 maximum. Dismissed Characters Theyll now stay nearby instead of wandering too far. Foraging Nerf Reduced material yield. Relations Cooldown Now 12 hours instead of 8 hours. Right-Click to Remove Traits Easier trait management. Forced Relation Dialogue Removed No more forced interactions. Major Mishap

I'm sorry to announce that Endless RPG had a major issue on Steam, causing the build to appear as 0 KB and preventing downloads. I hadnt made any changes in days and was only alerted by a player experiencing the problem. Thankfully, it's now fixed! My deepest apologies to anyone affected. Small Patch

Steam Achievements!

Hello adventurers! A new update for Endless RPG is here, now featuring Steam Achievements! First, make sure you're on version 0.8.8c. Steam gave me a hard time setting up a Beta branch since my build is now tangled with what is on Steam. I cannot just drop an executable for the QA. Speaking of which, a quick heads-up: the Beta branch is experimental and may contain game-breaking bugs. I noticed some of you are using it, so be careful, it's not the official stable version! I'm absolutely loving all the feedback and support you're giving Endless RPG: Untold Tales! It means a lot to me. The next update will include many of the suggestions we've discussed on the forums. The game as intended. A balanced challenge where strategy matters, but mistakes won't ruin you.

A softer challenge. Enemies are weaker, giving you more room to experiment and recover from mistakes. (Enemies have -25% Health, Guard, and Damage.)

A carefree adventure. Enemies pose little threat, letting you focus on the journey rather than the struggle. (Enemies have -50% Health, Guard, and Damage.) Event System Update!

Adventurers, a major update has arrived! Were introducing a brand-new Event System, bringing dynamic encounters and richer storytelling to Endless RPG: Untold Tales. Now, many events can occur during your playthrough, influenced by your party composition, weather, biome, and even the current moon phase! These events can be expanded in future updates and are fully customizable by players. Since they are configured via JSON, a complete document with instructions and in-game examples is available for easy modification. Changelog:

  • Event Engine and new events
  • Exchanged Bleed for Drain on Bat Swarm Spell

Enhancing Your Gameplay Experience

Hello everyone, we have some exciting updates and bug fixes to share with you regarding our latest development progress: From now on, all demo versions will have a level cap (Max Level 3) and a 25 in-game day limit. You can always create a new world and play again up to day 25! Also, all improvements and updates will be carried out on the demo and on the final version. Here is the list of what was changed:

  • Hotkeys Fixed: We've corrected an issue where the speed button hotkeys were not functioning as intended.
  • Healing Feedback: When healing via dialogue, such as at a campfire, the system will now accurately display the amount of health restored, even if your character is already at maximum health.
  • AI Archer Behaviour: We have refined the behaviour of AI archers, discouraging them from dashing and instead focusing on movement, making combat more predictable.
  • Dungeon Darkness: We have implemented a new darkness effect for all ruins and caves, featuring a black spotlight that follows the mouse or the character, which enhances the atmosphere in combats and dialogues.
  • Skill Generation Bug: A bug where some Skill buildings were not generating skills has been fixed. This issue was most likely occurring when the town grew.
  • Dialogue System Bug: We've addressed a bug in the dialogue engine that was causing issues when a party member was deceased. The system now cycles properly even when a character has died.
  • Caves Crash Fix: A crash that would occur when the party wiped while gathering ore in caves has been resolved.
  • Speed Button Functionality: The map speed button now correctly cycles through pause.
  • Town Display: The town will now correctly display the shop as the default tab.
  • Town Shop Improvements: The exit button in the town shop now includes a tooltip that indicates the Esc key is the hotkey to exit.
  • Visual clarity:
    • We've added a line to separate qualities from other properties in the UI.
    • We've added an explanation to the UI as to why a skill is not active, for example due to missing equipment.
  • Character Appearance: The "Unliving" skill now pales the character's skin.
  • Map Sprite Update: We have redone the character troops sprites and have ensured they will not appear blurry.
  • Map Arrow: We have corrected the map arrows to prevent them from being squashed, and have adjusted their position.
  • Map Icons: The Evil Center map icons are now preserved with pixel-perfect quality.

Launch Date: early March

Hello, adventurers! I want to share an update about Endless RPGs release plans. The Early Access launch will be moving to early March instead of January. This wasnt an easy decision, but its crucial to give the game the best possible start and I need your help to make it happen. Right now, Endless RPG has about 340 wishlists, but to succeed, I need many more. Thats why Ill be showcasing the game at Steam NextFest at the end of February. Its a huge opportunity to grow our community, and the extra time will help ensure the Early Access release is polished and full of charm. To make the wait worthwhile:

  • Ill be releasing a fully-featured demo by January, so you can dive in and experience everything the game has to offer.
