Clonizer 1.0.4 Update

CLONPO returns with the deployment of Patch v1.0.4!


Hello, fellow Clonees! This update brings a healthy batch of balance adjustments, bug fixes, [strike]new bug introducements[/strike], and player experience improvements, all guided by your feedback and the anonymous gameplay data we've received. Here are some of the key insights that shaped this patch: First-run win rate is 10%. Ideally, wed want this to be 0% (failure builds character!), but we know this is a turn-based game, and some players are going to be just very skilled. Overall, were satisfied with this number. Win rate on the old Normal difficulty is 23%. Not bad! But some players, especially those newer to roguelikes, expected a smoother ride. After all, it did say "Normal." We believe that the problem wasnt the difficulty itself, but how it was presented. So we moved the old normal to be the new hard, and added a new normal difficulty in-between. C.E.P. level 1+ win rates were over 50%. Very surprising! Once players got the hang of things, they seem to be beating it with ease. Well be tightening this up in future updates. Meanwhile, shoutout to the first player to conquer C.E.P. level 20 with R&D, after just 28 runs! But Logistics Level 20? Still untouched Most losses happened on the final boss mission. This is expected to an extent, but we wanted the earlier planets to add more pressureand also offer meaningful repair opportunitiesto make that final showdown feel earned.

Mechanics & Balance


  • New Difficulty Level:
      Weve added a third difficulty setting! (for C.E.P. 0) The old "Normal" becomes Hard. A new Normal has been added between Easy and Hard.
  • Increased Early Pressure and Repair Opportunities:
      Increased alien spawn rate on levels 14. The Hull node is now called the Repair Station, and is operated by our enthusiastic mechanic Craftee. It still grants +5 max hull, but now also offers 25% hull repair in exchange for -10 max hull. This node now appears slightly more frequently. Repair bonus after the 4th planet reduced: 50% 30%.
  • Less Repetition:
      Reduced the chances of encountering identical planets or missions back-to-back. When we release new planets or missions (which are already in the works!), theyll be guaranteed not to appear consecutively.
  • Planet Balancing:
      Reduced alien spawn rate on Planet Sproutera (desert). Increased alien spawn rates on Planet Darkus and Shroomides.
  • Boss Balancing:
      Milkee: Health reduced 30 25; milk thresholds now 15/5 (was 20/10). Lonlees Clock Bomb: Teleportal mission damage: 5 4. Boss mission damage: 5 7 Increased spawn rate of Faultilizers on Stinkees teleportal mission.
  • Mission Balancing:
      Dupe Collect mission requirements slightly increased on some levels. Extermination mission wave size slightly increased. Reinforcement mission: Slightly fewer Faultees on some levels. Mining mission: First level requirement slightly increased.
  • Starting deck unlocks are now harder to earn.
  • Regenerative Alloy (goody) now triggers on Rich Asteroids (instead of Repair Station). Hull repair effect: 4 5.

Player Experience


  • FFO Alarm Added: Youll now see a visual warning when FFO damage is about to spike. (No mechanical changesjust clarity.)
  • Dupe Collect mission's pressurized tiles on the alarmed version now stand out more clearly.

  • Steam Community Items are now available! Check out our new profile backgrounds and emoticons, play to collect your favorite alien trading cards and wear our brand new CLONPO badges!



Bugfixes


  • Fixed camera getting stuck at the start of a level randomly.
  • Fixed game getting stuck during timed turns if the timer runs out while targeting a card.
  • Fixed Steam Cloud saves not working on Mac.
  • Fixed game getting stuck when a card gets consumed while inspecting it in a pile.
  • Added a potential fix for the loading screen freeze after events.
  • Added a potential fix for rare random crashes.
  • Fixed Wormhole event's skip choice preventing card rewards from appearing in future levels.
  • Fixed several localization issues.
  • Fixed "Best Turn" achievement stat not registering properly.
  • Squashed a handful of minor visual bugs.

Clonizer 1.0.3 Update

CLONPO has authorized the deployment of Patch v1.0.3!


This update features key balance tweaks, bug fixes, and a handful of player experience improvements. Plus, we have some good news for Miracle Legumes believers and confetti enjoyers! After reviewing player data, we noticed that while some players were consistently winningeven on their very first runsthe overall win rates were lower than intended. So, weve gently dialed down the difficulty in a few areas. That said, we approached these changes with great caution. Clonizer is a roguelike with no meta-progression, which means challenge is central to its design. Make things too easy, and we risk undermining what makes it fun: player skill. Rest assured, experienced players can still achieve near-perfect win rates (even with cursed RNG) on C.E.P. levels 10 and below. If these balance changes end up missing the markwhether things still feel too brutal or suddenly too breezywell be listening to your feedback and remain fully open to further adjustments in future updates.

Mechanics & Balance


  • Slightly decreased FFO damage across all levels.
  • Increased the turn FFO damage starts ramping up the boss level.
  • In the Milkee boss fight, FFOs now try to abduct Cosmocows that are much closer to Clonizer.
  • In Galaxius Easius, FFO damage now caps at a point (it no longer scales infinitely).
  • Reduced the number of aliens waiting on planets when you land. This number gets affected by C.E.P. modifiers now, which means it should even out at higher C.E.P. levels.
  • Miracle Legumes are now slightly less useless. Still pretty useless. But hey, miracles dont grow on trees.

Player Experience


  • Players must now sign a Difficulty Agreement before starting normal difficulty for the first time. This contract submits their soul to CLONPO and waives their right to protest. Even on bathroom walls!
  • Added new effects for unlocking a new Clonizer or game mode, achieving a better score, and patch updates.
  • Clickable units now blink to demand your attention.
  • Added a new tutorial pop-up for the mining mission.
  • Stink Seeds are now larger. Not smellierjust more visible.
  • The deck screen can now be scrolled using WASD or arrow keys.
  • There is now a minimum shrink limit for units. (Yes, we saw you trying to kill bosses with multiple Shrink Rays.)
  • Capped how much camera zoom affects sound effect volume.
  • Added confetti effects in various CLONPO-approved places.

Bugfixes


  • Fixed global scores not showing up for daily galaxy.
  • Fixed Portable Replicator not being able to be played on upgraded units.
  • Leaving a card at Craftee no longer removes its permanent effects (e.g. bonus health from events).
  • Logistics The Unseen starting deck now correctly tracks progress.
  • Fixed a few additional visual bugs.
  • Fixed a few localization issues.

Clonizer Day 1 Update

Thank you to everyone who reached out with bug reports and feedback! We're working hard to make your gameplay experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible. This first-day patch focuses primarily on fixing game-breaking bugs and addressing major outliers in difficulty. We're keeping a close eye on balance and will be making more fine-tuned adjustments in future updates. We will be making more informed decisions as we collect more gameplay data.   • Made Galaxius Easius much easier.
  • Slightly decreased the spawn rate of Faultees on the reinforcement mission.

Bugfixes


  • Fixed cards getting stuck in the middle of the screen if you kill a mutation quickly after you spawn it.
  • Fixed game getting stuck on the Lonlee boss if bombs explode and kill units out of vision.
  • Fixed game getting stuck at the end of the tutorial level if you loaded a save to the tutorial level. (If you have a save file remaining from the last version, you'll need to abandon the run.)
  • Fixed action granted by card upgrades not working (for example Mutagen+).

Demo Patch v0.5.6

Hey Clonees! As we draw closer to our Early Access release, we're focusing more on the mechanics and balancing aspects of the game. Here are the changes reflected in the demo version:

Mechanics & Balance


  • Musprouts now use an action to unburrow. Their health is reduced by 1. Their spawn rate is increased accordingly.
  • FFOs now attack for a bit less damage on their first two attacks.
  • Enemies spawn a bit further away from Clonizer on level starts. Enemy starting spawn powers are reduced slightly.
  • On the Reinforcement mission, Faultee raids start weaker and grow stronger over time.
  • Backup Shields is now common. AdaptoShield is rare. Reduced AdaptoShields shield rate.
  • Decreased DUPE-Buffers shield by 1.
  • MutaTank is buffed.
  • Changed Craftees Hull Spray goody.

Player Experience


  • Improved sound effects.
  • Tip shown before a level starts is now visible for longer.

Bugfixes


  • Fixed an issue that caused the game to get stuck on the loading screen when an Extermination mission takes place in Desert Planet.
  • Fixed some props not appearing correctly on Reinforcement mission.
  • Craftee Hull Spray no longer adds another +30 hull whenever the game is loaded from a save.
  • Abandoning when on the galaxy map works properly again.

Demo Patch v0.5.5

As we joined the #TurnBasedThursdayFest, we wanted to address one of the most common feedback we received during our demo period, which was how each mission felt very similar to each other: They eventually all boiled down to moving Clonees to certain places on the map. This changes now! We reworked all three missions to each have their unique identity, playstyle, and feeling. And we aim to add new missions to the game as we move forward. We highly recommend to you to check them out! Below are the combined notes from both versions v0.5.4 and v0.5.5. We've released them only a few days apart.

Mechanics & Balance


  • Replaced Shield Generators mission with a new Reinforcements mission.
  • Reworked DUPE Collect mission completely.
  • Reworked Training Camp mission into Extermination.
  • Rebalanced and reworked many cards.
  • Added 15+ goodies to the demo. Changed CLONPO-Air goody.
  • Clonee Monument now has a range of 1.

Player Experience


  • Mutation cards no longer glow if there isnt a mutatable unit on the planet. Damage cards do not stop the end turn button from filling if there isnt a valid visible enemy.
  • Swapped the position of abandon and return buttons on the pause menu.
  • During the ranged attack targeting, color of FFOs and unit health bars are now dimmed correctly.
  • When multiple units get in line to fight, dying units will now fall behind fighting units.

Bugfixes


  • Playing Chili Pepper on MutaCube no longer breaks the game.
  • Moving the camera no longer causes the cards to hover/unhover incorrectly.
  • Pressing the confirm button multiple times on the goody swap interface no longer causes issues.
  • If the first Faultee encountered is Super Faultee at the Teleportal mission, it no longer triggers Cloneestructor dialogue, causing a weird visual bug.

Demo Patch v0.5.3

While there are many ongoing developments for the full version in the background, we've updated the demo as well to reflect the changes. In this rather significant update, we aimed to address an issue that many of you voiced concerns about: there was something wrong with FFOs! The most significant pain point seemed to be that FFOs were attacking for a large portion of your maximum hull, creating a feeling of having nothing to do but defend. When the cards didn't come your way, losing half of your hull in a single attack was undoubtedly frustrating. To address this issue, we've reduced both the damage of attacks and the shield values of cards. We believe that this adjustment should alleviate the frustration of constantly feeling the need to defend while maintaining the challenge and not making the game overly easy. Please let us know what you think about it!

Mechanics & Balance


  • Decreased the shield value of many cards.
  • Decreased the FFO damage. It also now starts ramping up much later.
  • One Construction Guide is now guaranteed to spawn adjacent to Clonizer.
  • Clonee upgrades now grant Quickfeet - first movement doesnt cost action, instead of +1 health.
  • Alien spawn rate is decreased.
  • FFO attack hits after aliens move.

Bugfixes


  • Fixed not being able to drag units (happened randomly, hotfixed last patch).
  • If you have both Broken Clock & Construction Helmet and Clonee spawns on the Clonizers tile, it no longer gains extra HP.
  • UI elements no longer are clickable when the loading screen is moving, potentially leading to unintended situations.
  • Fixed an issue where the game could freeze if enemy units try to move into tiles that are full.
  • Plasmarifle Programs continuation event no longer can be encountered normally.
  • If an FFO fails to spawn because its tile is full, it no longer stays at the tile forever.

Hey Clonees, Clonizer Demo is out! This time with tweaked shield & FFO mechanics, more content, and many improvements! Here are some highlights from the patch notes:

Strategy Fest - Limited Demo!

Demo Patch v0.4.2

Hey Clonees! Land of the Crescent - Games From Turkey event has just ended! We are thrilled by how many of you played the demo! Considerable amount of you played it for more than three hours! For such limited content, CLONPO management was not expecting this at all. Thank you so much! As this was our first time releasing our demo, we received a lot of feedback. We have already started working on them and you can see some of it on the patch notes below. Expect to hear fresh ideas and more squashed bugs soon! Also, our demo is going to be available a little while longer, so feel free to embark on another expedition while you can!

Mechanics & Balance


  • Slightly decreased the distance Teleportals spawn from the spaceship (at the final mission of the demo).

User Experience


  • Now there is an option inside gameplay settings to lock the cursor to the game window.
  • Each music now has its own victory and defeat jingles.
  • Small improvements on the audio systems.

Bugfixes


  • Potentially fixed the issue that rarely caused the game to get stuck on Sprouteras heatwave turns. Please report if it still happens.
  • Potentially fixed the issue that causes the game to crash when the planet explanation videos are shown. Please report if it still happens.
  • If an alien spawns on top of a Clonee with a Plasmagun, the game no longer gets stuck on the tutorial dialogue about how to use a Plasmagun.
  • Super Faultees no longer fail to fire their Plasmagun at the end of the turn they spawned.
  • Raw DUPE no longer can be invisible on its first turn.
  • Mutating a Clonee with HP providing bonuses such as Space Saber no longer causes it to lose the HP gained by it. Instead, HP gained by these bonuses will be restored fully.
  • Turkish font and localization fixes.

Demo Launch! - Land of the Crescent: Games From Turkey

Hex-based tactics meets roguelike deckbuilding! Play cards, manage clones, explore unique planets and outsmart aliens. Craft a powerful deck through your expedition and Clonize the universe to become employee of the month of CLONPO!

Master Turn-based Tactics

Missions are laid out on hex-based planets. Use your Clonizer to create Clonees, who in turn will explore, control areas, construct buildings, and fight unintelligent aliens with ultra-smart tactics. Each planet features unique sets of tiles and aliens to alter the battlefield in their own way.

Craft Your Deck

Collect cards from various departments, each with their own theme and mechanics. Upgrade your cards, specialize your Clonees, buy vastly powerful goodies, gather unique blueprints and build a deck that can fulfill your corporate needs!

Choose Your Path

Travel through the procedurally generated galaxy, complete assigned missions on alien planets, encounter eccentric events, trade with opportunistic shopkeepers and parasitic life forms! With endless possibilities, no playthrough is ever the same.
