The re-launch of the game didn't gather as many players as I would have hoped and sales has slowed down to a trickle in the last couple of weeks. The original game sold a lot of units on Xbox Live Indie Games back in 2010 and I fondly remember playing packed races online, talking to people over voice chat and strangers showing me shortcuts I didn't know about that they had discovered. I would love it if the game had a small revival, but at this rate it's not going to happen. Making the game free-to-play is my last-ditch effort to get new players into the game. My plan to (slowly) add more content to the game has not changed though, so stay tuned for future updates!
The first Seaside Saturday was a great success, we had 6 players online at the same time! For future events, I've changed the start time to 19:00 UTC. Spread the word!
To facilitate spontaneous encounters online given the game's small player base, there is now a countdown to 'Seaside Saturday' on the start screen! This is a scheduled time slot on Saturdays 21:00 UTC during which one can start or join a race if there are others wanting to play.
A Japanese player alerted me to a crash related to non-English speakers. Unfortunately, the game does not support non-English characters in Steam nicknames. The crash should now be fixed and the game should be able to handle such nicknames gracefully! Thanks for letting me know about this problem!
The latest update adds Steam Deck and Linux support to the game! Windows, Steam Deck and Linux players can now all be in the same multiplayer games together. Also, thanks for playing the game! If you enjoy it, please consider sharing it with your friends or writing a good review :)
Hi everyone and thanks for buying/showing interest in the game! I found the crash I was referring to in the previous update and it's now fixed.
Hi everyone and thanks for buying/showing interest in the game! I've noticed occasional crashes when a race finishes and while I haven't been able to reproduce the problem in a debug build yet, I did find a bug related to this. To be proactive I'm releasing a fix for this bug now even though I have yet to pinpoint the reason for the crash.
