A new beta is here! This time its not just about fixing a few pesky bugs (though yes, weve done that too huge thanks to everyone who reported them!), but also about making The Crazy Hyper-Dungeon Chronicles even better to look atand to play. From the frontlines of full game development: Weve reached level 49! Only one more to go before the entire campaign is complete. After that: balancing, fine-tuning, and final polish. The release is getting closer... get ready, adventurers! Heres whats new in this beta: - Custom backgrounds for each biome: they dont affect gameplay, but the dungeon has never looked this good! - Trap previews (fire jets, spikes, and more): Resolver and Explorer profiles will now get a brief visual hint before certain traps trigger. A small advantage... before the pain. - Screen shake effects during traps (when taking damage) and combat (on critical hits). Naturally, theres a toggle if you prefer a more stable experience. - New loading screen backgrounds, now clearly visible thanks to a refreshed layout. - All journal illustrations have been addedready to be browsed through. - Many player-reported bugs have been fixedthank you so much! Youre our favorite bugbusters! As always, feel free to drop by our Discord server if you want to chat, share feedback, or just say hi! See you soon, and happy dungeon crawling! The Dev Team
Hey everyone! This weekend we were at Torino Comics, playing at home and letting tons of visitors try the new demo. We got loads of feedback, tips, and appreciation and were proud to say the full redesign of the controller interface really paid off. Now everything is fully playable with a controller, but we also optimized the experience overall: combat is smoother and less chaotic (even with mouse and keyboard), inventory management is easier, and there are plenty of other improvements youll discover as you play. Yes, because the demo we showed at Torino Comics is now available on Steam for everyone! Enjoy! Heres whats new: - The combat screen got a full redesign: its now clearer, easier to read, and less overwhelming! You can pick powers or use belt items in a dedicated screen, with auto-pause until you're done. - Controller support is finally done right: intuitive commands, smooth response, and tons of visual hints to guide you right away. - A brand-new animated intro has arrived and trust us, its worth watching maybe start a new game? - With the big UI overhaul, we also took the chance to squash a few old minor bugs. Hopefully we didnt add new ones! (If you find anything that crashes, glitches, or breaks you know what to do: report it!) The Fix-A-Bug team is honored that The Crazy Hyper-Dungeon Chronicles has been selected for the "Selected Indie 80" showcase at the Tokyo Game Show 2024. As a gesture of gratitude, we have translated the demo currently available on Steam into Japanese so that all players in Japan can experience the game in their language and provide us with their valuable feedback. However, we would like to point out that there may be some imperfections in the translation due to the limited time we had to complete the work. In the months following the last demo, we have continued to develop the game. Currently, we have completed almost half of the total levels and have reached level 24. In addition to the new levels, the game has been improved both in terms of gameplay and aesthetics. Therefore, we have decided to release a new demo that includes many of these new features, except for the new levels. The demo, in fact, stops exactly as before, at level 16. Unfortunately, we also had to reset all saves, but that's how things go with a demo! Below is a summary of the main new features you will find in the new version:
The Crazy Hyper-Dungeon Chronicles - Latest modifications
Significant changes have been made since the Steam Demo release (with more to follow).
Content:
- Added 6 new levels (we're now at 21 levels done over 50 totals)
Gameplay:
- Implemented a defense system against magical attacks (which deal damage) in combat: you can dodge them by pressing at the right moment.
- Through special items or by drinking a particular potion, the hero can see the area visually controlled by enemies.
- Added a defense feature for some enemies who might retaliate by attacking the hero immediately if the player presses at the wrong moment.
- The crafting system now allows making multiple units of the same product at once.
- Changed the management of power cooldowns: they are immediately available after their effect ends (e.g., Focus) or after they have been used instantaneously (e.g., Preemptive Strike).
Cosmetics:
- Enhanced various dungeon levels: biomes are now (moderately and evenly) adorned with various graphical embellishments, from puddles on the ground to sewer bars, from cracks on the walls to bloodstains, etc., as in classic dungeon crawlers.
Before
After
- Messages from specific events now appear in the lower left corner without invading the gameplay area.
Future (upcoming):
- Changes to the rage accumulation system.
- Introduction of some variants for certain enemies to become more aggressive as levels increase.
- Introduction of new enemy attack and defense special moves.
- Removal of the Renegade (Adventurer) profile from the game (the fact that it has some features of other game profiles makes it interesting on paper but not in practice).
We have completed the modifications for the new DEMO, which now includes almost all the features we decided to add following the invaluable feedback (both positive and negative) received from you. The only features still left out concern the game's future levels. Here's the complete list of new features: Perks: We have developed a perk system that affects several gameplay elements, adapting to different playstyles, whether they are action-oriented, objective-focused, aesthetic, or a combination of these. Here are the four available archetypes: [olist]
Listening to our players' feedback, we have developed a system of perks based on different player types, allowing you to intensely personalize your gaming experience. Here are the four archetypes available:
1) Destroyer: Prefers intense combat, choosing games with physical challenges and fast-paced action, thus facing more enemies and excelling in intense combat scenarios. Less focused on narrative elements.
2) Resolver: Appreciates story and narration in games, thus able to overcome some challenges and fights using the art of persuasion, preferring strategy over brute force. Loves immersive experiences with emotional depth.
3) Explorer: Goal-oriented and driven by achieving them, will find more loot and carry more items from the start, gaining greater rewards for puzzles solved.
4) Adventurer: A hybrid player who appreciates a balanced combination of action, exploration, and story, adaptable to various game situations.
In reality, there are many other changes in the game depending on the chosen profile that players will discover and appreciate during their adventure.
This player-type-based system is just one of the many changes we are making to enrich your journey in the Hyper-Dungeon, we will reveal more details in the future!

[v0.92 - November 19, 2023] First of all, a sincere thank you to all of you (and there are so many of you!) who have tried the demo and provided feedback. Both praise and criticism have played a fundamental role in improving our demo. Your contribution has pushed us to reconsider some crucial aspects of the game, based on the different types of players. Thanks to you, we are making significant changes that will be implemented in the coming months. Some of these will also be included in the demo in the future. To stay updated on these developments and to participate in in-depth discussions, we invite you to join our Discord server. Here instead is the list of changes made in this new version of the demo:
Welcome, bold adventurers!
On a scale from "zero" to "final boss," we're at least "miniboss" level excited to announce that you can now get your greedy mitts on the demo for "The Crazy Hyper-Dungeon Chronicles"!
Immerse yourself in a chaotic, pixelated world where each level is a new beginning, every room a potentially murderous unknown, and every enemy a challenge that will test your coolness and strategic skills. Ready to start the hunt for the Sacred Groowl?
The demo gives you a taste of our personal reinterpretation of the classic dungeon-crawlers of YGOD (Ye Good Olde Days):
Hello everyone, We are thrilled to bring you some key updates on our ongoing project. The team is fully committed to every aspect of development to ensure a high-quality finished product. State of Development We've made significant strides recently. From graphical updates to new gameplay dynamics, every element is being fine-tuned to create an engaging and entertaining game. Demo on the Horizon The countdown has begun! We aim to release a demo in the coming weeks. This will be your chance to get a taste of what awaits you. Your Support Will Be Crucial We can't wait to share our demo with you. Once its public, your input will be vital for further refining various aspects of the game. Follow us to stay updated and get ready for the adventure we're crafting. Every piece of feedback will be a stepping stone in our developmental journey. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, The Development Team
Plunge into the heart of adventure with our 2D dungeon crawler featuring roguelite elements and get catapulted into a series of mind-bending labyrinths with a top-down perspective. All this is rendered in glorious pixel-art and adorned with a turn-based combat system infused with electrifying arcade nuances, where each weapon serves as a unique extension of your character.
Another hallmark of this adventure is its randomly generated level design. Every zone of the Hyper-Dungeon is a unique universe, different from any other gameplay session. The layout of the rooms, the shape of the corridors, and the placement of monsters, traps, and treasures are reinvented every time, providing players with an ever-changing challenge.
Navigating these subterranean levels will be anything but a walk in the park: you'll need tactics, quick reflexes, and keen observation to overcome lethal traps and a wide variety of enemies. The full version of the game offers a total of 50 meticulously designed levels, paying special attention to gameplay mechanics, plot, and dialogue. The gameplay offers a broad spectrum of experiences that continually alternate: from last-stand battles to tactical reasoning, and from puzzles that require intuition and wit.
Each level is a microcosm unto itself, with different biomes, varying levels of brightness, and changing dimensions. Think you can dodge some challenges? Think again... what invaluable treasures will you miss by taking the easier path? But it doesn't end here: classic mechanics of the genre—such as character development, leveling up, and collecting rare items—are enriched by an intuitive yet effective crafting system.
Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to customize your fighting technique with three different styles, each with unique unlockable abilities. Monsters in the game are numerous and exhibit different behaviors, making encounters compelling without being excessively difficult or frustrating: we firmly believe that a video game should above all be fun.
But don't be fooled by the seriousness of the challenge: the entire adventure is imbued with eccentric humor and sharp dialogue, rich in pop culture, nerd/geek references, and nods to classic video game lore, which, we hope, will capture the heart of every gamer!
