Balkadia Update: Making the game a bit easier & adding a new map screen!

Thank you to everyone who purchased Balkadia! Some very good feedback was received regarding the difficulty of the game. After some tweaks, Balkadia is much more forgiving:

  • some enemy/boss attacks are slower
  • some enemy/boss health points are reduced
  • the player's health is now doubled
  • better jump control in the air (gif below)

Also, there is a much better map screen now, the old one was admittedly very ugly.
Balkadia's demo will be updated in a few hours as well to reflect these changes. Thank you for your time! Sincerely, George from TRG

FEATURES:

  • Versatility: instead of many weapons, you have a single whip with a variety of offensive & defensive functions.
  • Dismemberment: action games need a sense of power. The whip dismembers enemies.
  • Color: minimalist art contrasts the brutality of the game with beautiful environments.
  • Linearity: this is not a Metroidvania, instead, you have traditional level progression.

STORY:

The Whipper is a colorful, yet violent, 2D action platformer about a mother who will stop at nothing to save her son. A cult leader, hell-bent on resurrecting the all powerful monster known as Yaga, has kidnapped the child and intends to use him as a sacrifice.

A QUICK WORD FROM GEORGE:

This game is definitely a passion project for me. It is mainly inspired by the controls of Super Castlevania IV and the brutality of God of War. The Whipper is still in development, but it now has a DEMO with 3 playable stages available for your feedback.
