Over the years, weve seen so many Metro mods or themed levels created with other engines, but now we give you a chance to fulfil all your Metro wishes in the very engine where Metro was born.



Were thrilled to pull back the curtain and release Exodus SDK for you all to play with for free! To run it, you just need to have Metro Exodus (2019) or Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition installed on your machine. This isnt just simple mod support were giving you our full Editor as it was the day we released the Metro Exodus, with the ability to create standalone content run from a basic executable. Weve integrated Mod.io support, so its really easy to manage and share your content. If you also know visual script, our Visual Script Editor leaves the doors wide open with possibilities, so get creative! Along with some tutorial levels and as an example of a fully featured, shipped level, weve included a full unpacked Metro Exodus sandbox level for you to tear apart using our tools. Feel yourself a 4A Games team member weve provided you with everything our Designers, Artists, and Animators have access to!



There are a few things to note in the EULA (boring), but the main stuff you must keep in mind includes this you cant use it for commercial purposes, share it behind a paywall, or sell anything you make with it. Were not looking to enter the engine licensing business, this is purely something meant for the community, and we hope you get inspired to create some really wild things.

Weve been building this engine since the studio opened in 2005, and its seen a lot of iteration and improvement over the years. Its still not perfect, and we continue developing it daily, but were really proud of our teams efforts and we hope that youll enjoy getting your hands dirty with it.

SDK Features
[h3]Scene Editor[/h3]
The Scene Editor is the main tool you use while working on a level. It is mainly used for adding and manipulating all kinds of objects, from NPCs and weapons to patrol points, restrictors, and proxies.
[h3]Model Editor/Viewer[/h3]
The Model Editor allows you to change collision properties, textures, materials, add locators and texture presets, edit animation tags and other animation properties.
[h3]Navigation[/h3]
The Navigation Mode allows you to create/edit the navigation mesh (aka: AI map) of the level. This is required for the AI (enemies, friends, etc.) to move through the level.
[h3]Particles[/h3]
The Particles Mode allows you to create/edit particles in the game.
[h3]Terrain Tool[/h3]
The Terrain Tool allows you to edit terrain for your level. Valleys, mountains, caves, uneven or sloped ground, etc. You can easily modify both shape and appearance by using a range of tools.
[h3]Weather Editor[/h3]
The Weather Editor allows you to create weather presets to use within weather volumes. There are several options to adjust: Skybox, Sun, Clouds to Post Process, Snow/Water Levels, etc. You can create different types of weather, Day/Night Cycles, or Modifiers.
[h3]Camera Track Editor[/h3]
The Track Editor is used for creating cutscenes, camera spans, camera shakes, and screen effects.
[h3]Visual Script[/h3]
The VS (Visual Script) Editor allows scripting complex gameplay features and AI behavior without writing a single line of code. The main advantages of visual scripts include their simplicity and clear visual feedback to the user. Their logic is founded upon so-called events which are produced in the scripts by specific triggers, and further processing of these events.


How to get the Exodus SDK
1.You must own a copy of Metro Exodus (2019) or Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition on Steam, GOG, or Epic Games Store, and have it installed on your PC.
2.Download Exodus SDK as a Tool (for Steam) or Additional Content (for GOG and Epic Games Store).
3.Then:

Boasting a huge graphical upgrade, including Ray Traced Emissive Lighting as pioneered in The Two Colonels throughout the main game, a Field of View slider for the first time in the Metro series and DLSS 2.1 implementation. This update is so extensive, it couldnt be delivered as a patch and will be available for free to all Metro Exodus owners for free as a separate entitlement.

No, we dont have any plans at this time.
Will my saves carry over?
Both versions share the same save game directory. Chapter saves will transfer over, but progress inside of a level remains with the version it was created on. (for other stores please visit the blog below).
NOTE: We realize that some players cant/dont want to carry over their previous progress, but also might want to access later levels directly. We added a Chapter Unlock feature to ALL PC Enhanced versions, for players who do not want to play through again, but want to see a particular level with the new features. This provides a default set of equipment and resources at the start of the selected chapter. Achievements are turned off for the save slot when the unlock button is pressed. However we highly recommend you play through again, to get the best experience, and maybe a different ending.

Built for high-end PC hardware with Ray Tracing capable Nvidia and AMD GPUs and implementing DLSS 2.0 for the ultimate PC experience. Didnt think Metro Exodus could look any better? Hold our vodka.

We also have an update on the PC Mac and Linux Versions that we know some of you have been patiently waiting for.

When Metro Exodus released two years ago, it was one of the first games to feature Ray Tracing (on high-end PC only) thanks to NVIDIAs new RTX series of graphics cards, although we still utilized many more traditional rendering techniques for console and older PC graphics cards.
But with Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles offering Ray Tracing support, we took the decision to radically overhaul our proprietary 4A Engine and realise our ambitions for a fully Ray Traced experience on next gen consoles and high-end PC.

We have built an all-new Fully Ray Traced Lighting Pipeline that brings a number of optimizations, upgrades, and new features to the Ray Traced Global Illumination and Emissive Lighting that we pioneered with the original release of Metro Exodus, as well as an upgraded implementation of our powerful Temporal Reconstruction technology to further boost resolution, visual detail and performance.

And weve pushed these enhancements to the limit to take advantage of the latest Ray Tracing capable GPU hardware from NVIDIA and AMD, to create the ultimate version for our PC enthusiast fans.

Introducing the Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition
For PC players, were taking advantage of our new Fully Ray Traced Lighting Pipeline and the latest GPU-capable hardware from NVIDIA and AMD to offer the ultimate Ray Traced experience the Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition.

This upgrade is so extensive, it will require a Ray Tracing capable GPU as the minimum spec, and we will need to deliver this version as a separate product it is not a simple patch to the base game instead it will be offered as an extra entitlement to all existing Metro Exodus PC players.

The PC Enhanced Edition will offer additional Ray Tracing features, including Advanced Ray Traced Reflections and support for DLSS 2.0 on NVIDIA hardware, which offers sharper image details and increased framerates and display resolutions.

Applying the same philosophy as our Xbox and PlayStation upgrades, this PC Enhanced Edition will be FREE to all existing Metro Exodus owners on the Epic Games Store, Steam and GoG. You can expect the PC Enhanced Edition to release later this Spring.

Last but not least back in November, we also confirmed our commitment to Mac and Linux versions of Metro Exodus.

Were happy to confirm that the Mac version is expected to release on the Apple Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store in March, with the Linux version set to follow a little later in the year on Steam!

Developer 4A Games (makers of the Metro series), have published a major studio update to celebrate what has been a milestone year for both the studio and the Metro series, and reveal their future plans for both Metro and some exciting new projects.

Sam has long dreamed of returning to his homeland, and maybe finding his family alive. The prospect seemed impossible in the darkened tunnels of the Metro, but when the Spartans discovered that Moscow was not the only city left alive after the war, holding out hope didnt feel so foolish anymore.

Sam makes his way away from the Aurora in search of a way back to the USA, arriving at the remains of Vladivostoks tsunami ravaged harbours, ruined industrial buildings, and crumbling residential districts. To complete his journey, Sam will discover that he needs every tactic he has learned so far to survive, as his surroundings prove to be far trickier than expected.

We are pleased to announce that a hotfix is being deployed across the Steam platform from 12PM UTC to address reported issues relating to The Two Colonels patch.

• Fixed issue with missing suit upgrades. For existing game saves, upgrades will be restored after loading your save with the hotfix installed.
  
• Fixed issue with progress calculation for some Achievements where the counter could reset after switching save slots.
  
• Fixed infinite black screen after pressing Quick save after a profile change on suspend.
  
• Fixed bug when loading a game with a lack of free space.
  
• Fixed crash when loading a save file if one of the slots was detected as corrupted.
  

The hotly anticipated first expansion for Metro Exodus, The Two Colonels is now available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Following the Story of Colonel Khlebnikov as Colonel Miller retraces the steps he took in his final days, The Two Colonels will reveal the horrors that took place in the doomed station at Novosibirsk.

Make sure you grab the Expansion pass to get Sam's Story, due in early 2020 which follows the story of former US Marine, Sam, as he attempts to make his way back to his homeland.
