And here's another update before the summer and the anniversary of the game's release (on 1 July - yes, already!). This is a very important update, as it contains the latest bug fixes for local cooperation.
I've spent the last two years re coding all the game's mechanics (only 10% of the code remains intact from the initial version) so that it can be played by up to 4 players in local co-op. No kidding, it's been tedious. But I'm very happy with the result, and I think, like some of you, that it was really necessary for Baby Dino Adventures to be playable with up to 4 players at the same time.
The game should now finally be stable for co-operative play, which means I can finally concentrate exclusively on adding the last two environments: snow and volcano.

Many thanks to Shadree on Itch.io for his invaluable help and the bug reporting that helped me find and fix the bugs listed below.
And a very big thank you to all of you who read these lines, who play, and who give meaning to Baby Dino Adventures.
Here's a full list of changes for those who may or may not be interested (you never know, after all):
In local co-op, when a player dies and is bubbled, sometimes when this player goes out of the bubble to play again, this player is stuck in the idle animation leading to tons of bugs when colliding with different objects. This was due to the playerIsHurt variable not being reset properly when a player is bubbled. This bug fix also fixes following bugs:
When a dino is sleeping and is hurt by an enemy, that dino get stuck in sleeping state and player of that dino can not move anymore;
When dying in water in 4 players co-op sometimes players go out of their bubble, or infinitely fall, or players even can't move anymore;
In first level with bees, if a player was bubbled and the other one trigger the end (!) crate, after the transparent crates popped out, camera and players were stuck;
Sometimes when dinos get hit by an enemy, they'll become half-sized for a few seconds. Nothing mechanically changes, just the size. Same happened on End Level Screen, a player sprite size was sometimes @2x smaller or bigger after sleeping;
When running the game for the first time, menu disappears when pressing any input which prevent players from starting the game or even doing anything. Reported by Psychomelic on Steam community game forums on Steam community game forums. Thanks a lot!;
Sometimes when a player is sleeping and get hurt, this player is stuck forever. This was due to the playerLooseHeart function not resetting isSleeping variable properly;
In level 19, the total box amount was 41 which was wrong. The total box amount in this level is 42;
In level 21, if you die and restart from the checkpoint, sometimes mushrooms position was not correct blocking players progression. This was due to the NoSave behavior set on mushrooms. Removing it fixed the issue;
In level 27, sometimes Rolleo was stuck when the mine cart was destroyed preventing players to complete the quest;
Sometimes when re spawning on a checkpoint, some enemies or moving platforms were not moving anymore avoiding players to progress further in a level. This was mainly caused of such objects being part of NoSave families and having a NoSave behavior;
Sometimes dialogs with npcs were closed before the end of their last sentence when using the keyboard and pressing Enter to stop typewriter animation;
Added possibility to go to player select screen from pause menu:
[/img]
In level 18, crates that appear when players hit the ! crate are now solid metal boxes so that players can succeed to reach the left side palm tree;
Players will now bounce on TNT crates only once while they collide with them for the first time. Once triggered, TNT crates remain solid platforms until explosion (countdown is: 3, 2, 1, boom - so you have 4 seconds before TNT crates explode);
Removed spawning fishes in second boss fight (with pterodactyl) because it was causing way too much bugs with boss fight events and these may be very frustrating for some players. Plus no real added values to have such enemies there;
See you soon,
Antoine G.
Let's get the year off to a good start with this small update containing a number of improvements and bug fixes. steamhappy There's no new content, just changes to improve the game's stability and enhance the experience for players in both single-player and co-op modes. Here's the full list:
Here's a regular update just before the summer holidays. steamhappy In a nutshell, this update is important because following a request from a player and his niece, I've decided to add a checkpoint mechanic to some of the more difficult and/or longer levels. I've also taken the opportunity to fix 2-3 annoying bugs here and there, add a new level (level 28) and a few improvements. Blah blah blah... I'm not so good at introductions so let's get straight to the details:
Since the last update in April, I've spent a lot of time replaying old levels. On my own, but also with my son to check that everything seems to be working properly in co-op. Unfortunately, we've found two glitches. One that prevents you from progressing through the level with the spider queen (level 23) and another that can sometimes ruin the experience in co-op mode. If one player dies (and is put in a bubble) and the other is alive, the level still restarts. That's why this update. And I'm taking the opportunity to add a new level with a new non-player character, 3 new achievements to unlock, and 2 accessibility options as requested by some of you. Here are some more details about what this update includes:
5 months have already passed since the last update and here I am again with a new one. steamhappy The content in this update is already paving the way for the next one, but after weeks of fixing bugs and improving some features I thought it was time to release them so that I can focus on what's next: latest cave levels. Here are some more details about what this update includes:
Time for an update! Here is what's new with version 134. steamhappy
Title sums it all. I pushed a new update on the beta branch of the game which includes the boss fight with the pterodactyl, and 5 first levels of the cave environment.
The update should be stable enough in solo, but may have a few bugs here and there in co-op.
Feedbacks on difficulty are also very welcome.
I'll leave this update in the beta branch until end of August waiting for feedbacks from testers and players and then push it to production if everything goes well.
I'll try to stick to this workflow in the future. I mean releasing small updates on the beta branch with upcoming levels, leave them a moment for testing & debugging, then push to production and so on.
I plan to publish such updates every 3 to 6 months max, depending on my availability to work on the game in my free time.
Talk to you later,
Antoine G.

I am about to release a new content update on the beta branch this summer with 5 first levels of the new Cave environment. This level with the Spider Queen will be included, and will be the third one of World 3.
The only last thing I need to push the update is a name for our dear 8 legged lady.
In a recent tweet I asked for name ideas and honestly it was a blast to read your nice suggestions. As I did for previous NPCs, I created a poll to help me make a decision and I would like you to make a choice following your preferences.
Level design-wise you start this level like other ones with a NPC. Once dialog ends, your quest starts. You have to help the Spider Queen reach the end of the Cave by toggling on/off red and blue blocks. If Spider Queen is not on the ground, she will spread a spider web and will stay in the air safely. Jump on her back to make her walk again. That's the main mechanic you'll have to deal with in the whole level, plus ofcourse a few extra secret areas.

Here are a few ways to get in touch:
Since the last update back in January this year, some of you recently reported that the game was not working anymore on SteamOS and on the SteamDeck. It took me some time to figure things out. Apparently this bug is on a more higher level as it affects all games on Steam that are using NWJS technology as a wrapper for native builds. Valve is also working on an official fix. Anyway before waiting for that official fix, here is a quick update we - together with some other Steam players - have been testing on the beta branch and that seems to work fine. If you want to learn more about this issue, you can find the related Steam forum post here. Thanks again for your help and for playing Baby Dino Adventures. I'm going back to work on World 3 levels. Talk to you soon, Antoine G. :coolcera:
Time flies, and I progress one step at a time on the development of the next content update.
I'm currently finalizing the 2nd boss that Baby Dino will face at the end of the Beach level, and I can't figure out how to name him/her properly.
I asked for a few ideas last year via this tweet back in December, and so far we received 30 different suggestions.
Ofcourse I have some preferences, but I'd like to have your opinion as well so I put together a Google Form so that you can participate in the poll.
Please, make sure to enter your vote before February 11:

Happy New Year everyone! I wish you all the best for this new year. steamhappy It has been months that I did not release an update for the game so I thought it was finally time for me to do so, and what a better time than right now to start this new year correctly? Well, this update doesn't contain any additional content as I have been fixing issues reported by players on our Discord server for the past months and added some small enhancements on existing features here and there. The gaming experience should feel better, and especially for you playing in local multiplayer or online via the Steam Remote Play Together feature. Lots of bug fixes are mostly related to issues found while more than 2 players are playing together. Thanks a lot for playing Baby Dino and your help! I'll now continue working on this World 3 content update. So far 5 levels of 10 are already done. See you later, Antoine G.

Below you can find a complete list of all changes included in this patch note:
Here we go for yet another update full of bug fixes and enhancements. The co-op feature should now be stable enough for you to enjoy it up to 4 players as I have been carefully debugging and testing each bugs you sent me. I can't say how much your help means a lot to me. Baby Dino couldn't be the game it is today without your help.. So.. Thank you again, and I hope youll enjoy these changes. If you find any issues, please keep reporting them here on our Steam Community forum or on our Discord server. Ill now get back to World 3 stuff, and continue working on these 10 new levels for the next content update - which is Cave. Talk to you soon, Antoine G.

Find below a complete list of all changes included in this update.
Following your feedbacks with the recent local co-op update release, I decided to postpone the next devlog post and focus on following bugfixes/enhancements that you reported/asked for. No new content again, but these changes should make your overall gaming experience (solo or co-op) much better. Here is a complete list of what to expect with this update.
What a ride since the last stable release and patch notes back in April last year.. I got a new full-time job, 2nd son was born in August 2021, and we - my wife & our children - finally moved to our new house beginning this year.
Well, Im not really here to talk about my IRL events (unless you want to know more?), but more to announce that this new stable release brings a lot of bug fixes and enhancements that I have been carefully working on last year.
See all changes list at the bottom of this post to learn more.
The most important news is indeed that the local co-operation mode is now out of beta and available to all players. No new content, but a devlog showing whats next this year will follow in a couple of weeks.
So, this local co-op mode will allow up to 4 players to play locally on the same screen, or using the Remote Play Together feature from Steam. Full gamepad support, but player 1 may use the keyboard instead if prefered while others must play using gamepads.
Another important thing to mention is that I reworked entirely the game camera to make it flexible enough for whats next. Currently the camera will stick to a random player that is alive (normally the most advanced one in the current level). Players who die or fall will pop into a bubble. Bubbles should pop-out once they overlay another non-bubbled players around safe areas. Anyway it is possible to remain bubbled the whole level. If no players are alive, current level will restart and current progression in that level will be reset.
Additionally this update brings a lot of bug fixes, enhancements, and non visible changes that should enhance your gaming experience. This was also a good opportunity to prepare lots of stuff for whats next, but I'll talk about that specifically in a separate post.

That's it. That's the news. I have been working on this local co-op feature for months last year, and I'm really excited to announce that it is ready. In beta. We had to optimize lots of things for local co-op including existing mechanics. I won't dive in into too much details for now. I'll post a detailed devlog later and a list of what you may expect next this year.
Another patch note for version 122 which fixes two important glitches reported by EvilPenguinKing from our Discord community and a couple of English typos. Bug fixes:
You know how community is important, right?
Well, today we would like to thank one of our Discord member (Creeva) who kindly reported us an annoying bug that made it impossible to complete the 2nd level of the Beach environment.
Here is a small update that fixes this player collision sprite issue. Make sure to update the game accordingly before playing again. Note that if you previously installed the version 122, you should not loose your current progression.
If you run into troubles or find annoying bugs like this one, make sure to join our Discord server so we can help you and fix bugs quickly.
Thank you for reading and for your amazing support,

A very big thanks to our patrons for their amazing support:
Hello dino's, While we already started working on the 3rd environment of the game (Cave/Mountain), we thought it was time to provide you with a small update. This one brings lots enhancements and bug fixes that you reported us these last 2 months after the Beach update launch and should make your gaming experience way better. You can view the full changes list below. Installation reminder Once you downloaded the update and launched the game, make sure you're playing the version 122. If not, you will probably need to uninstall and reinstall the game. Since we made lots of changes on the structure of the game again, you will need to play it back from its beginning. I'm still thinking about a better solution and I hope to provide it within the next content update. In the meantime, find below a save game file that you can use to start directly at the first boss fight right after the level with the snail (Shelldon). Here is the install instructions: [olist]

Well, in the meantime thank you for reading thus far. Your support this year has been amazing and means a lot to me.
What's next?
You will hear some more news about Baby Dino beginning next year as we are currently preparing a lot of stuff to release the next content update. This one will feature the new Beach environment which contains 10 more levels, one boss, 3 new npcs/quests and some more bug fixes/improvements. Yes, that's what I was doing since the Early Access release back in July.. Time flies.

Hello there, First I'd like to thank everyone for your support, and kind words. This EA release is getting me a lot of motivations for what's next. So this patch note is mostly about an annoying bug that came up with the latest update (v103). It prevents following Steam achievements from working:
