It's now been a little over a month since we released on Steam and we wanted to catch everyone up on all things Bit Shifter. We first want to thank the community for your support. The videos you have made, the reviews, your bug reports and suggestions have been very helpful, thank you and keep them coming. Design can be tough and your insight lets us know if we are going along the right path.
On to what have we been doing this past month: the quick answer is “a whole lot” but let's get into it. So first the obvious: we have more levels for you to play, that's a given, but now you will be armed with a new weapon to fight the virus! The Plasma Gun! This rapid fire weapon will lay waste to those pesky Pop Up's but don't get too comfortable, a new enemy is out to get you: the Wingnut.
This flying enemy seeks to destroy you while also spreading virus on the sly.
We also included more unlockable power ups and better bug coin pathing for those collectors out there.
We are also working on improving the story to Bit Shifter without boring you with walls of text. Story has been on the backburner for us as gameplay was most important. We feel that now is the time to finally get that in working order so expect improvement on that front coming soon. Last but not least we have been working hard on improving performance and controller support. We took the time to re-write a platform layer using SDL2. This paves the way for the Macintosh OSX version and performance improvements. It also allowed us to use the SDL2 game controller class to support more game controllers than just XBox style. If your controller is included here, then we now support it: https://github.com/gabomdq/SDL_GameControllerDB
Expect to see this and more in our Jan 2016 update:
