Beyond Enemy Lines Vietnam: Technical Playtest Begins Now!

We're kicking off our technical playtest today, May 23 a bit differently than planned. [previewyoutube=OeL0vvx32zQ;full][/previewyoutube] Due to a pending approval for the dedicated Playtest App, we've decided to launch the Steam Demo version early instead. This version will be updated continuously based on your feedback and will remain available for about one month, including during Steam Next Fest. What's in the demo? You'll experience a slice of a campaign mission with multiple replayable routes. Each run takes between 30 and 60 minutes. Weapons can be ranked up, and attachments unlocked. What we're looking for:

How well does it run on your system?
Did you encounter any critical bugs or crashes?
Are there design elements youd like to see improved?

This is a work-in-progress. Expect bugs, placeholder content, and unfinished systems. Your input will directly shape how the game evolves.

Known & Expected Bugs As this is an early work-in-progress build, some issues are known and currently being addressed:

Unresponsive AI Behavior Enemy AI may occasionally fail to react properly. This is often caused by missing information nodes or the inability to find valid cover. We're actively adjusting these systems to strike the right balance between performance and intelligent behavior.
Weapon Rank Display Bug In some cases, the in-game weapon rank may appear to reset or decrease after restarting a mission. This is purely a visual issue your actual progress and weapon stats remain unaffected.
Audio Mixing Incomplete The overall sound mix is still under development. Expect placeholder audio, inconsistent volume levels, and general imbalance. This is a key area well be improving over the coming weeks.
Gameplay Lag Spikes You may experience minor stutters or lag spikes, particularly when loading new sections of the level. Were aware of this and working on smoother level streaming and performance optimizations.

They will communicate, organize and sneak up on you, so be ready to face them!

Advanced Fighting Mechanics

You will fight with various weapons against a numerically superior enemy. Make sure to use all available tactical elements and gadgets to decide the struggle in your favor.
Use your knife, a silenced pistol, the map computer or even a whistle to distract guards and strike from the shadows. Or grab an assault rifle and a shotgun and go the offensive way!

Unlimited Solution System

All missions are designed in an open way. There are thousands of routes, so make use of your equipment to find the most efficient way of completing your mission!

Noise Calculation System

Beyond Enemy Lines utilizes a movement based noise calculation system. Each move or action will result in a noise with a different intensity, calculated from your movement.
Act carefully, the enemy will hear you!

Content

Beyond Enemy Lines offers an eight missions long campaign and two special standalone missions, with a combined average playtime of 10-15h on the first playtrough. Operation: Arctic Hawk, the first DLC adds an additional 4 mission long campaign. Size the release three additional new standalone missions, each with an average playtime of 1h, wehre released for free. Several more will be added in the coming months.

Replayability

Beyond Enemy Lines is a hardcore tactical shooter and specifically designed to be replayed numerous times. There are no savegames while in a mission, so beating the game becomes a real challenge. It takes patience and dedication to beat this game, which makes it stand out among casual titles that are so prevalent in current times. Expect your raw skill to be tested in an unforgiving way!
