We are happy to announce the release of a major update for Rival Books of Aster! Our devs have been hard at work implementing new features and bug fixes which will be outlined in detail below. We have been listening to everyone who has been participating in our early access and today’s update will address many of the concerns and wants of the community. While early access is still a work in progress, we think that today’s release is a big step forward towards for the team and hopefully for you, the players.

New features

Ora

We have added an in-game currency to RBA that will allow you to purchase cosmetic items for your account. Open up the chronicles and navigate to your favourite card to see the options for purchase. Each win will award you 10 Ora. Win streaks of 3 will net you 20 Ora, Win streaks of 5 will get you 30 Ora, and 10 in a row will get you 40 Ora. We think that this will give those of you who need it motivation to keep banging out those wins on the battlefield. As a gift to all of our early adopters we have convinced Clauneck to give each of you 200 Ora to spend as you please.

Ora Unlockables

For now, you can spend your Ora unlocking the flavour text for each card in the chronicles and to purchase custom Avatars of your favourite cards. These Avatars will be displayed on the game board instead of the house sigil of the deck your are playing. We have plans to expand the available unlockables as early access moves forward, so stay tuned.

Additional features

These additional features came directly from you, the players. We have tried to address as many of your concerns as possible and will continue to do so as we keep pushing on.

Added tooltip to list view in deck builder
Leaderboard now scrolls to your own position automatically
Cards in deck builder are larger
Cards in hand now have a particle effect to show which ones you can afford
Show recently played users in Steam
Added more information to the choose starting deck screen
Queued attacks and cards played from hand now animate immediately
End turn button now animates immediately
More control over music and sound effect volume
Changed texture compression settings and reduced build size
Various animation timing tweaks

Bugs fixed:

Fixed the Snare tooltip showing incorrect information
Fixed an issue where opponent simula would sometimes overlap
Fixed an issue where deck builder would get stuck in loading state after deleting a deck
Fixed an issue where deck builder ink sliders would get stuck
Replaced drag to attack sound effect
Fixed certain red simula showing as black in the chronicles
Fixed issues with tutorial sometimes getting messages out of order
Tooltips in hand and on board are bigger
Text on cards in hand is easier to read
