It's a surreal experience to be able to welcome you back to the world of Serial Cleaner after eight years since the release. Its hard to believe the game launched in 2017! Even one year ago we couldnt have expected to post here again, but after several conversations with the publisher Curve Games, we jointly agreed that we all think warmly of this game - the first PC and console title to be made by Draw Distance (when it was still called iFun4all) - and that we would love to see what Bob was up to after he packed his bags and left with his mother.
We started with this theme of travel, and immediately knew we wanted Bob to go to Mexico, where he would have to return to his unusual job. And that the crime should have been linked to Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). From there, it was a straightforward path to the story of a serial killer operating at festivals, through which we visited Chinatown on Chinese New Year and New Orleans during Mardi Gras.
Development of Serial Cleaner: Blood & Confetti turned out to be more difficult than we anticipated. After eight years, only two people remained from the original team. The new team had to learn the project from scratch, reverse-engineering the game as there was no documentation left from 2017. At the same time, we had to switch to a new version of the Unity engine which made the whole production even more difficult as many plugins from eight years ago simply stopped working. All this made working on the DLC a big challenge, and was the reason for delay. Were sincerely apologize that you had to wait longer for Bobs return.
Today Blood & Confetti releases on Steam. Despite eight years since its release, Serial Cleaner has not aged at all, and it was super fun to prepare this new short story for you. Whether we are talking about the people who worked on the original, or just joined the team, we all had a great time with the production.
We hope you will like what we have prepared, and enjoy the game just as we do.
