We are so delighted to tell you that weve nearly achieved our first stretch goal!! Were less than 200 away from an end to our poop scooping woes, yippee! With 16 days left in our campaign and so close to hitting our first stretch goal, we want to bring your attention to our next Stretch Goal: Dino Skin Tracking! While the main focus of this stretch goal is to introduce a new journal page to track all colours, patterns, and rarities of each dino species, it includes improvements to Maris dino storage for better filtering, sorting, optimisation, and the long asked for ability to remove dinos from Maris dino storage permanently! Once youre not scooping so much poop, youll have more time for befriending those URs! Also included in this stretch goal: A compass to find NPCs, nearby dinos and region transition points on screen. An option at the ranch house to skip to different times of day. Unlockable inventory expansion. Improved discoverer dino AI.

We wanted to give all of our Ranchers a sneak peek into what to expect from the Kickstarter which launches on July 1st at 8am PT. We thought the easiest way to do this would be to share the preview of our actual Kickstarter page with you so you can get a sense of the funding goals and rewards we have on offer. Some caveats:

• This is a PREVIEW of the page, which means you cant see all the details you will be able to on launch.
• Weve included a complete list of what each Reward Tier includes below because we know this is what many of you will be really curious about.
• You may need to be logged into a Kickstarter account to be able to see this page, but I hope not.
• There is space on this preview page to leave comments but we would prefer you to send any feedback directly to us to avoid a lot of clutter on the page.
• We are still adding a few final touches onto the page, so there might be minor errors If you happen to see any, please let us know!
• Dont be worrying about the duplication of VIP and non-VIP tiers. These will disappear on launch and you will only see the non-VIP tiers on July 1st.

What is a Reward Tier?

The primary goal of our Kickstarter is to fund an expansion pack for Paleo Pines. As a way of saying Thank You for your pledge towards this goal, we have created multiple awards that you can choose from depending on the pledge level you can afford. Please do not pledge higher than you feel comfortable with and please under no circumstances do we want you to go into debt. Wed rather 100 people pledged lower amounts than causing anyone anxiety about finances.

Why A Kickstarter?

We've had some questions surrounding WHY we're doing a Kickstarter for this content, which we've added to our Kickstarter itself, but we'll share it here as well to make sure folks can see it easily! It's completely understandable to wonder why a studio with a game like Paleo Pines, which many consider a success, would need a Kickstarter. This has been one of the toughest communication challenges we've faced as an independent studio, and we want to be as transparent as we are able to be. While Paleo Pines has indeed been a wonderful success story in terms of its reception and reach, the unfortunate reality is that the financial benefits of that success have, so far, primarily gone to our publishers. Our merchandise sales, while appreciated, don't generate substantial income due to high costs and thin margins. We have managed to get to this point primarily through the sales of our plushies, determined as we were to keep on trying to secure other forms of funding. The current landscape of the games industry is incredibly tough. Funding opportunities for independent developers have been drying up at an alarming rate. This makes it incredibly difficult for studios like ours to secure the investment needed to continue our work, especially when it comes to creating expansions and updates for existing games. Last year, when we shared our financial struggles with our community, our main hope was to find a new publishing partner. We poured countless hours into this effort, approaching over 50 different publishers in a desperate attempt to secure the resources that would allow us to keep our dedicated team together and bring new content to the game. Despite our best efforts, we were met with disappointment at every turn. It was in this moment of uncertainty that our incredible community stepped up, with a huge number of players urging us to try crowdfunding. With no other viable options on the horizon, we decided to listen to your voices and embrace this path. This Kickstarter isn't just an option for us; it is truly the only way we can bring the Players' Choice expansion to life. Make a note in your calendars folks, Paleo Pines Players' Choice Kickstarter is going live on the 1st of July! For those of you who've never used Kickstarter before, payments are only taken at the end of the campaign if the campaign is successful.
We know we've been hammering on about this, but we want to make sure that no one who wants to help support the future of Paleo Pines misses out on this chance We're truly hopeful that with your help, we'll be able to add some of our players' most repeated requests to Paleo Pines, starting with our main goal: The Spinosaurus!

As so many of you know, we are going to be launching a Kickstarter to fund new content in Paleo Pines. • "Does the e-mail I use have to match the e-mail of my discord account to get the VIP role?" No, it doesn't! E-mails will be sent out to receive the information of the discord account you wish to attach the VIP role to, and the role will be manually applied by the team.
• "I can't use credit card, but it's the only option, is there any other way?" We are looking into potentially seeing if any other payment methods (such as Paypal) can be unlocked for the VIP system, but it is not guaranteed. You can however use a debit card if you have access to one!
• "How long will the VIP reserves be open for?" There is no specific date on when the VIP reserves will close, but they are guaranteed to be up for at least another week, if not more!

The Paleo Pines 2025 Roadmap is here! We're so happy to be able to share our 2025 roadmap with everyone. It's taken time to solidify our plans for the year, and we appreciate your patience. We've been open about the challenges we've faced as a studio, and we're thrilled at the possibility of reuniting some of the original team to bring more content to Paleo Pines! We want to be totally transparent with everyone - in late 2024 when things were particularly bleak, we really considered shuttering the project altogether. The financial and emotional strain was significant. However, after careful consideration, we realized that stopping wouldn't be fair to our dedicated team or our supportive community. So much passion has been poured into this project, and your support through plushie and merch sales has been instrumental in keeping us going. We're still here and we're completely rejuvenated to make things happen this year! Howdy folks! We want to share something exciting with you all- Weve received a small amount of funding* to undertake a research project into the power of wholesome gaming, and Paleo Pines in particular, on emotional and mental health, with a focus on neurodiverse/neurodivergent players! This research will be done through online surveys, both quantitative and qualitative. We want to find out what parts of wholesome/cosy/peaceful gaming really promote relaxation, focus, and other positive emotions, and this research will help us identify which game design elements may contribute to this positive impact to inform future game development, both for Paleo Pines and the wider gaming industry. This first survey is a short one to gather some broader information, and to collect interest in the next surveys!
