Dear Wizards,

Today's patch is focused on improving performance of all explosions. They were all reworked and should have much better performance now!


Changed:


  • [Performance] Reworked all explosions to improve their performance.

  • [Game Feel] Increased Basic Spell's base knockback by a little bit more than 300% [3.2 => 10.0].

  • [Enemies / Game Feel] It's now easier to interrupt enemies (and briefly stun them) after dealing them enough damage in a single blow. Each enemy have a separate percentage threshold, but they were lowered by 20-300% based on the enemy.

  • [Enemies] Bosses now can become elites only starting from the second difficulty level.

  • [Perks / Artifacts] All perks and artifacts generating currencies over time now generate them 3 seconds faster.

  • [Spells] Increased explosion range of Arcane Bomb by 50%

Fixed:


  • [Texts] Damage and healing texts are no longer displayed when damage/healing done is equal to 0.

Removed:


  • [Visibility] Removed gravity distortion effect(visually) from Gravity Tornado and Gravity Zone spells. They were causing performance issues and with multiple of them spawned it was really difficult to read enemies attacks. These effects had sense only long time ago when there was no spells merging in the game.

  • [Curses] Removed Curse of the Blind from the possible curses you can randomly gain on difficulty level 2+

Dear Wizards, Another patch today which is focused on reducing the grind. All elemental upgrades prices has been lowered. We have decided to push it today because it was really needed.

  • [Progression] Reduced prices of elemental upgrades in elemental altars in the Astral World by about 35%. There was too much grind required to unlock everything.
  • [Progression] Reduced cost of unlocking new items based on their rarity [75 / 150 / 300 / 600 => 75 / 150 / 250 / 500].
  • [Settings] Control Hints are now automatically disabled after starting 2 run or after finishing the level on the first run. Before they were disabled after starting a third run, but it seems that it was too late.

  • [Resurrection] Fixed a bug where sometimes resurrection powers could make you fall below 0 health, making you unable to do anything because the game had no idea what to do about it.
  • [Level Generation] All chests, NPCs and objects should no longer spawn in walls.
  • [Challenges] When selecting any challenge requiring you to play on exact difficulty, the difficulty is automatically changed and cannot be manually changed.
  • [Enemies] Fixed a bug where Rotten Nightmare could sometimes not play walk animation when going backwards.

  • [QOL] Added option to skip Astral Forge upgrade.
  • [QOL] Added displaying currently selected difficulty level in the left panel of the inventory.

  • [Visibility] Danger Icon is now more visible.
  • [QOL] Increased duration of exclamation mark appearing above enemies before their attacks.
  • [QOL] When flying enemies get out of their patrol zone (close to their spawn point), they now return to it 5x => 10x faster. They now also start going back 20-150% sooner (based on enemy). Challenge Rooms should be more pleasant to do now.
  • [Artifacts] Reduced rotation of orbs granted by Magic Orbs Booster I artifact [54% => 25%] and increased time between firing projectiles by orbs [28% => 37%].
  • [Perks] Reduced rotation of orbs granted by Orb Speed Boost perk [30% / 38% / 48% / 60% => 10% / 14% / 18% / 23%] and increased time between firing projectiles by orbs [20% / 23% / 27% / 32% => 23% / 26% / 30% / 35%].

Fixed:


  • [Enchantments] Fixed a bug where if your basic spell could pierce walls thanks to the Ghost Projectile enchantment, the effect was removed after collecting power transforming basic spell into laser beam.
  • [Enchantments] Laser Beam now spawns all effects exactly in the aimed direction.
  • [Trap Room] Game should now always properly recognize when you have exited the Trap Room. This bug was causing you to sometimes lose all lifesteal powers after exiting the Trap Room.
  • [Minimap] Minimap should no longer be flickering after zooming out when using a widescreen monitor in the Astral World.
  • [Challenges] It's now impossible to manually change wizard element or difficulty level when Fiery World, Icy World, Earth World or Base Power challenge is selected. If you happen to have wrong wizard or difficulty selected with this challenge active, then the game will automatically select correct wizard and difficulty level.
  • [Challenges] Fixed a bug where Enchanted Orb of a wrong element could spawn with Fiery World, Icy World or Earth World challenge active. At least it didn't drop to me after the change anymore.

  • [Chests] Removed Explosive Chests which could be destroyed only using any explosion. They were too confusing for most of the players.,

Dear Wizards, Today's patch is mostly about darkening background, greatly reducing knockback and doing small balance of spells. We have heard your complaints about your spells doing a lot less damage than you would like to because enemies got knocked back too far after getting hit once and thus avoiding the rest of the damage from other spells. Oh, we have also slightly nerfed goblins.

  • [Saves] Fixed a bug where if you have managed to save the game while having 0 health, then you couldn't do anything after loading the save file.
  • [Meta Progression] Air Arcana upgrade now displays proper text when it's not upgraded yet.

Dear Wizards, Today's update is about adding a few QOL changes and bug fixes. Expect to see reduction of meta progression prices in the next update since we have heard many complains about too much grind in the game!

  • [Progression] Reduced cost of unlocking new items based on their rarity [100 / 250 / 600 / 1100 => 75 / 150 / 300 / 600],
  • [QOL] Reduced time needed to pick up items top the inventory when holding a button [0.75 => 0.3 seconds].,
  • [QOL] Increased time of unlocking meta progression and items by about 300% so you will need to spend way less time on unlocking stuff.,
  • [Difficulty] Reduced amount of enemies spawning in the Void.,
  • [Challenges] Increased number of enemies you don't need to kill in challenged like Skilled Killer (requiring you to kill most enemies on a given level) [15 => 25]. These challenges are now slightly easier.

Fixed:


  • [Resolutions] Fixed camera after defeating bosses when using widescreen resolution.,
  • [Performance] Reduced amount of decorations in the Void to improve it's performance.,

Dear Wizards, A lot of you were complaining about it so it's time for a small optimization patch! Expect to see more optimization patches in the future, especially the ones related to performance of projectiles. Improving their performance however will not be as easy since it will require me to completely rework how their work and use more advanced Unity's system so it will take me some time to develop. I'm sorry for all the issues and rage caused by FPS drops. This is our top priority right now to improve it.

Added:


  • [Music] Background music is now muted after changing the game's window.
  • [Settings] Added support for 5120 x 1440 resolution.

Changed:


  • [Performance] Reduced maximum amount of spawned damage/healing texts [infinite => 40].
  • [Performance] Lightning Strike, Zeus Rage and Zeus Wand now deal damage every 0.05 => 0.15 seconds (their total damage is unchanged).

Fixed:


  • [Performance] Improved performance of spells sounds. All spells sounds are now limited since they were causing big performance issues. Now spells like for example Lightning Strike should have much better performance!

Removed:


  • [Performance] Removed healing effect (only visual part). It was problematic because with too much healing (even with simple combo like Zeus Wand + Shamanic Spellbook it could cause FPS drop).
  • [Performance] Removed lights from spells like Lightning Strike, Spore Zone and from effects when projectiles are destroyed.

Dear Wizards, It's time for the first Early Access Patch Notes!

Added:


  • [QOL] Added option to exit Perks window while selecting a perk.
  • [QOL] Quests which are not related to giving X currencies / health / keys are now automatically completed after finishing them.

Changed:


  • [Trap Rooms] All switches in trap rooms have been changed to normal switches where you need to walk up to them and use once to open them forever.
  • [Environment] Jumping platforms(slimes) will no longer push you upwards if you're using stomp (ground pound).
  • [Environment] All chests now have 10% => 8% chance to become cursed.
  • [Nerf] Great Energy Ball is now a Very Rare => Legendary spell and it's energy field deals damage 2x less often. The zone now also lasts for 2.5 => 2 seconds.

Fixed:


  • [Challenges] Fixed a bug where "Challenger I" challenge was failing when taking damage outside Challenge Rooms.
  • [Quests] Fixed a bug where window with quest details was sometimes impossible to close.
  • [Windowed Mode] Player no longer walks on it's own after clicking outside the game's window in windowed mode. There are still some problems with this logic however and this will be further looked at in later patches.
  • [Translation] Fixed current final's boss name in spanish and french languages.

The First Day of EA Release: A Developer's Note-Devlog

Dear Wizards, As a main developer of An Amazing Wizard, from the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank every single one of you who have played the game and enjoy it despite its flaws. There are over 1000 of you already and it makes me insanely happy!

We need your feedback


We are here to listen to all your feedback and feel free to share anything you like or don't like in Steam Discussions, Review or in our official Discord. I try to respond as quickly as possible and I'm making notes about what should be fixed ASAP. Expect to see the first bug fixing / QOL patch later today! This is just the beggining of our Early Access journey and we want to make the game as good as possible for you all.

How is that possible?


For everyone interested, I would like you to know that this game is a result of me working in my spare time after daily job for over 6 years and over 9000 hours spent on it. That being said, we will do everything we can to improve the gaming experience.

Visual Issue


Some of you have mentioned visibility problems or little cohesion between different biomes or enemies. The difference in quality between them is result of something very simple. All game art was made by just 1 pixel artist who didn't had as much experience 4 years ago, when he started making art for this game, as he has now. That's why some parts of the game look way better visually than others. We will be doing some improvements to it later during Early Access. P.S. I love seeing the game being compared to Dead Cells or Noita and watching positive reaction from streamers. Thank you everyone who help the game being noticed by as many people as possible.
