Synchronicity is finally released! I've had a lot of fun making, playtesting and improving this game over the years and the day has finally come to release it into the wild! I've just released the public Demo for Synchronicity <3
As a small Indie multiplayer game, matchmaking with a small player-base is always a challenge. That is why Synchronicity implements "Cloud Turns". When playing matchmaking games, do not expect to play them in one go, but rather over the course of a couple of days.
You will get notified whenever there is a new turn for you; as will be your opponent. That is not to say that there won't be the occasional match that is played live, but it probably will be the exception.
For playing live games, I encourage you to invite your friends or join the discord and find people to play with that way.
Synchronicity is a tactical turn based game. Maneuver your Units to outsmart your opponent and use their special abilities to the greatest effect. The game is split into two phases, planning and execution:
Each round you can plan up to 3 actions for each of your 3 Units. Have them move across the map, Shoot along a certain path, overwatch a specific area or use one of their special abilities.
Once both sides have submitted their plans for the round they get executed at the same time. Then you'll find out how well you anticipated your opponents moves of it its all falling apart.
Any online game you start, both Matchmaking games or custom private matches, can be played synchronously as well as asynchronously:
Synchronous gameplay is what you expect. Both players are online at the same time. Whenever both sides have submitted their turn you get to see the result can plan your next moves.
Asynchronous gameplay means that your opponent does not need to be online for you to play. Any plans you submit are saved in the cloud. If your opponent has already submitted their turn you get to see the result and can submit your next turn to the cloud.
Notifications are send whenever it is your time to make the next move. You can register for either notifications through Steam or Discord.
Synchronous turns: Plan 3 steps in advance while your opponent does the same.
Asymmetrical multiplayer: Opportunistic hackers vs righteous megacorp? Idealist revolutionaries vs malevolent corporate overlord? Pick your side!
Destructible and penetrable environments: Predict enemy positions and just shoot through the wall! Need a different angle? Breach some walls!
Instant Replay: Missed something? Look at what happened in the last round again. Any detail can give you an edge!
Practice Puzzles: Get to know the special abilities and mechanics with fun little Puzzle levels!
Practice AI: Want to get used to the game without pressure? Try practicing against the AI!
Cloud Games: Turn any game into an asynchronous cloud game. Don't have time to finish the game in one go? Come back later, the game will be waiting for you.
