Update: New Shops, Achievements, Sounds, Tweaks, and Bug Fixes

Howdy, hope everyone is having an absolute decent Friday lunar2019piginablanket I got some solid updates for you todaynew stuff to explore, new achievements, some new epic sounds, tweaks, and some bug fixes. A lot in store. Here's what it is:


Shop Update


Twelve brand new frog shops are waiting for you, as well as the new and improved shop tile, which is impervious to explosives. I added some challenges to some of the shops so you can risk it all for the biscuit, if you so choose. Here's one of em:

7 New Achievements







New achievements for the following:
  • Finishing the tutorial (Reaching the Buried Treetops)
  • Reaching the Toxic Burrow
  • Reaching the Sacrificial Sanctum
  • Reaching the Ancient Ruins
  • Defeating the Gargantuan Worm
  • Acquiring a special weapon upgrade
  • Making a bold purchase

New Delicious Sounds


  • Wooden doors now make unique sounds when they open and close.
  • Torches have ambient "torchy" sound and an extinguishing noise when they go out.
  • Toxic shrooms now hiss with poison gas when they explode.

New Mechanics And Other Content


  • Torches can be extinguished via explosions.
  • Wooden Doors Open Automatically: Gone are the days of slapping and smashing doors. They now open as you walk through, and they make some nice sounds too.
  • Toxic Shrooms Make You Slip: Stepping on a toxic shroom will now make you slip and fallunless youre crouching. If you crouch, youll avoid slipping.
  • Added some new Worm Boss rooms.


Bugs SLAPPED And Tweaks


  • Chamber 6 no longer leads to the wrong transition level.
  • The Worm boss now plays the right death sound.
  • Mosquitos finally chase the center of the player, instead of his toes.
  • Maggot hitbox monitoring state now resets properly after recovery.
  • Frog Merchant can no longer be exploded (for now.)
  • Reduced drop rate of emeralds from slimes.
  • Value of emeralds dropped by slimes has been fixed.
  • Cannibal meat now heals you, as it should.
  • You can now shove items into walls if you do it properly
  • Fixed shop labels appearing behind Frog Merchant dialogue
  • More bug fixes that we won't speak of...

Hotfix Notes For Sep 25, 2024

Just a small patch to fix a bug brought to my attention on the Discord server!

  • Fixed a bug where exiting a dungeon on the first chamber would heal the player
  • Increased the drop rate of rat meat, worm meat, cannibal meat
  • Cannibals have a higher chance of dropping gems

We have officially released Conquistador in Early Access! This is our first game and we are so excited to share it with you! The Giant Slime boss finds it's way into the demo

New


  • The gelatinous beast has been added to the demo... Good luck, he's tough.
  • Items are now bouncy! Added bounce physics to items.
  • Dynamite is now bouncy and has angular velocity when thrown.
  • Sticky dynamite now sticks to enemies... Including large slimy ones.
  • The jungle has been revamped, chunks have been reduced in size from 264 tiles to 160.
  • Levels size has changed from 48x88 to 50x80.
  • Slime graphics are much prettier
  • Font for the menu header labels has been updated
  • Added some new menu translations for 13 languages
  • Merchant has a new look and a new golden outfit
  • Made GUI more compact, including inventory slots
  • You can now press down to enter onto a ladder / tree / vine
  • Added green wishlist button to the demo
  • The player's chain is now visible on his main arm

Tweaks


  • Balanced some item prices
  • Meat is dropped less frequently
  • Cannibal meat drops more frequently
  • Red worms now have 2 hp
  • Long spear hitbox size has increased
  • Long spear can now destroy tiles that block it off

Fixes


  • Fixed hunger bar starve animation playing after respawning from a starvation death
  • Fixed hunger bar not displaying correctly when starving and full
  • Fixed inventory visuals not updating correctly after restarting

Conquistador is a procedurally generated roguelike platformer that will test your skills as you journey through a world infested with fantastical beasts, monsters, and sentient frogs. With your trusty chain, the same chain that was once used to bind you, embark on an epic adventure and fight your way through countless enemies and obstacles.

Features and Content

  • Randomly Generated Levels: Conquistador combines hand-crafted levels with procedural generation to provide hundreds of challenging rooms filled with loot, traps, enemies and secrets to discover. No two playthroughs are quite the same.
  • Permadeath: Be warned, there is no coming back from death in Conquistador. The world is dangerous and filled with numerous traps, countless enemies, and even a few friends to break bread with. Every decision counts, and every action could be your last.
  • Exploration: Journey through infested jungles, discover rare loot, alternate paths, secret levels, weapons, upgrades, and spells. The more you explore, the more you'll discover.
  • Items: There are numerous items, weapons, and spells to collect or buy in Conquistador. Each item grants new abilities, passive status effects, health bonuses, and much more, making your journey a little easier.
  • Dynamite and Ladders: Use dynamite and ladders to blast your way through the earth and reach previously unreachable places. Make your own path and discover new secrets.
  • Shops and Loot: Sell hard-earned loot to merchants in exchange for rare items and abilities that will help you on your journey. Choose your purchases wisely, as every item you have could be the difference between life and death.
  • Continuous Development: Conquistador will be released in early access initially, but will be continuously updated post-release with new content and features.
