Update #16 - Graduation fix

Today we're releasing a small update fixing an issue with the Graduation mission not showing up, and we're also removing the Game Telemetry feature, as we're no longer monitoring it. Improvements:

  • Disabled Game Telemetry feature.
Bugfixes:
  • Fixed Graduation mission not being available after Ascending. This should also fix the problem retroactively, for saves that already Ascended and didn't have the mission available.

Update #15 - Widescreen FOV fix

Today we're releasing a small update with a single fix: Bugfixes:

  • Fixed FOV setting not working properly in ultrawide/surround aspect ratio setups. FOV setting would be used as the total horizontal angle of the screen, meaning 130 wasn't wide enough on those cases. We've changed so the value is assigned to a 16:9 aspect ratio, and actual FOV is increased/decreased based on the screen aspect ratio.

Today we're releasing the 1.0 version of Army of Ruin!



During the past 8 months we've been in Early Access, we've released over 25 updates adding lots of new content and features, such as 24 playable charactes, over 100 weapons and evolutions, and over 60 different trinkets, many of which were based on the community feedback we've got during the whole process.
We believe Army of Ruin has become a great game with lots of contents to unlock and lots of fun to have while doing so, and we hope you think the same way, whether you are a new player or a returning backer!

Update #12 - Fire rate bugfix

Hi! Today we're releasing a small update fixing a single issue reported in the Discord server. Bugfixes:

  • Fixed weapon fire rate being inconsistent depending on framerate.
This change affects most weapons (except for beam weapons), increasing their actual fire rate to the expected values. Weapons with higher fire rates will see a more noticeable increase, and the lower the framerate you were playing on, the more noticeable the effect will be.

Update #10 - New Enemies!

Hi! Today we're releasing an update for the game, featuring the Drakes, a new kind of flying enemies!
New Content:

  • New enemies: Accursed Drakes, Frost Drakes and Blight Drakes.
Improvements:
  • Changed background color of the "Low Mana" warning to Purple (we tried using the weapon's color, but it was a bit too chaotic, and you should already know the weapon you're using anyways).
  • "Low Mana" warning sound is now different from the "Low Health" one.
  • Added different sounds when the Amulet, Dash and Skill are ready to be used again.
Bugfixes:
  • Fixed rare case where enemies would teleport non-stop accross the room.
  • Fixed reflection cubemap not working properly in some cases (it's only used on low quality settings).

Update #9 - Big update!

Hi! Today we're releasing a new update for the game, featuring a bunch of new content that we hope you'll enjoy! New content:

  • New weapons: Added 4 new starter weapons, unlocked right away:
    • Rod of Darkness
    • Mjlnir
    • Dragonfury
    • Plaguebearer
  • New room type: Gilded Treasure Chest. These treasures contain a random high level weapon, but you'll need to spend some coins to get it!
  • New dungeon type (campaign only): Onslaught dungeons. These are linear dungeons where you can only advance.
  • Added Photo mode to take nice pictures from weird angles!
Gameplay changes:
  • Amulets now have levels mid-run, the same as weapons. This level grants an increasingly powerful passive bonus (now unlocked by default).
  • Adjusted a bunch of unpopular perks to make them more interesting.
  • Kraz's Trance is now stopped ahead of time when the fight ends.
  • The stats screen now shows campaign upgrades.
  • Reduced fire rate reduction of the "Make sure not to miss" combat room modifier, so it doesn't feel that slow.
Improvements:
  • Added a "resume" indicator on the main menu when there's a game in progress
  • Music now changes when the boss is spawned in Gauntlet dungeons.
  • Added some memory saving measures. Should help limiting maximum VRAM/RAM usage.
Bugfixes:
  • Fixed stepping on lava while having barrier not unhiding the HUD.

Update #8 - Small bugfix/performance update

Hi! We're releasing a small update today, bringing a number of small bugfixes and performance improvements done during the console port. We'd like to apologize for the lack of meaningful content updates since the game's release. The main reason behind this drought is the console ports taking more time than expected, as the new consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series) aren't as compatible with the previous generation as one would expect, and had to be treated as a whole new platform, delaying the whole process. However, the ports are almost complete and we'll able to resume work on new content soon. We've planned a new set of starter weapons (to increase initial weapon variety), a new enemy family and a new unlockable character. See you soon! Improvements

  • Done several performance improvements to the "Town" theme.
  • Minor overall GPU usage improvements.
Bugfixes
  • Fixed wrong enemy spawn location in the "Town" theme.

Update #7 - Minor improvements and fixes

Hi! Today we're releasing a small update with a few improvements and fixes to issues reported over the past days. Improvements:

  • Weapon DPS values shown in character sheet, shop window, chests, etc. Will now show the final value, with stat buffs already applied. This means values will change depending on your current state, for example if you open the character sheet while jumping with the Bunnyhopper perk.
  • Improved "Very High" Antialias setting quality.
  • "Ziggurat Trial" mode now has a random theme on every floor.
Bugfixes:
  • Fixed some minor mesh merge issues.
  • Fixed beam weapons not stopping when the player dies.
  • Fixed Onos' ragdoll collision potentially causing player weapon model to disappear.
  • Fixed leaderboard scores not sending "Money found" values.
  • Fixed leaderboards having Experience Level / Floor values switched.

Update #6 - Chinese localization, performance improvements, leaderboards!

Hi! Today we're releasing a new update bringing a few new features and some performance optimizations. New features:

  • Added Chinese localization
  • Added Leaderboards for all classic modes (one leaderboard per combination of mode, character and difficulty)
Improvements:
  • Changed Classic Modes' select character screen button behavior a bit, so a game can be started with the A button instead of the X one.
  • PS5 controllers will now show PS button images, instead of Xbox ones.
  • Instead of being completely invulnerable, players can now lose health on the tutorial, but will stop at 20% health.
  • Added a number of aggressive optimization steps during level load. This reduces CPU and GPU usage, and should help improve framerate by up to 10% in big rooms and themes. However, this could lead to some visual problems in specific spots, so please report them if you find any.
Bugfixes:
  • Fixed some attacks targeting broken obelisks.
  • Fixed non-leveleable perks showing a level in some UIs.
  • Fixed minions auto-killed when defeating a boss counting towards achievements.
  • Fixed "Spectacle" perk not working.

Update #4 - Bugfixes, Performance improvements & Skill indicator!

Hi! Today we're releasing an update fixing a number of issues reported over the past days, as well as some tweaks that should improve performance on lower end computers. We're also adding a new option (disabled by default) to show skill indicators near the crosshair, in case you want to quickly know if your cooldowns are ready, etc. We also want to apologize for a lack of content updates in the past weeks. Because of the time spent on the console ports, we've delayed a bit the content additions. However, we'll soon start work on a couple of new characters, and new starter weapons, along with new enemies, all of that for free, so stay tuned for updates! Improvements:

  • Added Crosshair skill indicator (disabled by default)
  • Minor performance improvements regarding lights and HDR usage on lower game qualities.
Gameplay changes:
  • Decreased health of Goblin Gunslingers a bit.
  • Limited number of "L" rooms in Endless modes (daily challenge and infinite dungeon) to a maximum of 1.
  • Decreased damage boost of bosses in Gauntlet.
Bugfixes:
  • Fixed weapon disappearance bug when colliding when Examiner Draco's ragdoll.
  • Fixed Game telemetry always being enabled on game startup.

Update #1 - Bugfixes and minor balance changes

Hi! First of all, let us say "Thank you!" for all your support during this weekend, which was above expectations, and we're glad to see most of you are having fun while crawling those nasty dungeons. The ones that may not be as happy with all those wizards running amok are the Carrots, as over 500,000 carrots have been dealt with during this weekend!. Today we're releasing the first update (actually the second, but the first one was so small we didn't issue a newspost) after the full release of the game. This update fixes a number of minor issues reported during the weekend, and also does a small balance pass thanks to the huge amount of data received from the game telemetry. Fortunately no enemy, perk or weapon was so broken that it required huge changes, but we've done tiny adjustments to most weapons, and buffed a bunch of perks that were unpopular or too situational, so they remained too unpopular. Improvements:

  • Revised visibility of HUD icons in Sequence rooms.
Bugfixes:
  • Fixed hole in the wall of a specific Chained Chest room.
  • Fixed Final boss being able to show up in the middle of a Ziggurat Trial.
  • Fixed remaining unlocks not showing up as possible mission rewards after Ascension.
  • Fixed DLC ownership affecting starter Wand in the Daily Challenge.
Gameplay changes:
  • Final boss will not show up in endless modes.
  • Increased a bit time Shielded champions remain vulnerable.
  • Minor adjustments to enemy balance (sorry but we don't have a proper list, they are really small changes anyway).
  • Toned down damage of Goblin Gunslingers, as they were too powerful (this new enemy didn't have a proper balance pass before release).
  • Minor adjustments to weapon power. Again we don't have a proper list, but most of the changes involved a mana usage reduction of the primary attack.
  • Beam wands' damage was reduced.
  • Adjustments to unpopular perks to make them more interesting:
    • Black Market will only show up if you have more than 1 main weapon.
    • Increased Curse potion multiplier.
    • Increased Appraiser mana recovery.
    • Bunnyhopper now also increases damage.
    • Brute increases drop rate a bit more.

First Person Shooting at its finest


Ziggurat 2 focuses on fast paced combat and constant movement, in which mistakes are paid dearly. You'll need dexterity, reflexes and resource management skills to have a chance of survival against the dangers hiding in the shadows, and manage to come back safe and sound.

No two plays are the same


Following the line of its predecessor, in Ziggurat 2 dungeons are randomly generated, full of dangers and treasure for the bold wizards daring to enter them. Going a step further, dungeons now have more verticality and variety, and more compact rooms, for quicker fights and easier exploration.

Back to the Citadel


In the Citadel, home of the Brotherhood, you'll be able to recruit new and old allies, as well as improve your equipment and skills, before deciding which mission to perform next. With dozens of unlockable weapons with different natures and behaviors, preparation before a mission is crucial and may be the difference between an overwhelming victory and the bitter taste of defeat.
