Im going to be posting devlogs from here on out! And what better way to kick these off than with a preview of whats awaiting Badgersaw and his friends in Chapter 2!
Wait, did someone say friends?
It seems Tantalum and Mr. L decided to ditch our Badgeriffic hero as soon as they got out of the cave!
Dont worry though, the three have found themselves trapped in another awkward predicament, and Badgersaw is taking it upon himself to set them all free in a (mostly) solo adventure.
All of the screenshots below are still very much Work In Progress and don't represent the final art!

This time around the heroes have found themselves arrested and placed in a sectioned off area in a secluded village, free to wander around and uncover its many secrets. Well see a little less combat and a lot more puzzle solving and dialogue as the three unravel more of the mystery.

Finally out of the confines of that claustrophobic nightmare cave, Badgersaw will have access to a kitchen to restore his HP and a sofa to sleep on. No longer will you have to manage saves and rations, its almost as though you can enjoy the pleasures of domestic life!
Badgersaw doesnt actually know how to cook, but he can slap a bunch of ingredients between bread and call it a sandwich. In a pinch, he can even eat that really spicy pepper without crying!
The gang were placed under arrest by a group of mysterious tall women who give off ambiguously evil vibes. Regardless, they dont seem to have sharp claws or murderous intent, so why not get to know them a little? Do a couple of quests for them and they might even let you out?
With the recent announcement of my next IP, Goblin Shaman, you might be wondering: what does this mean for Badgersaw? Is Chapter 2 still coming?
The short answer is: yes. Chapter 2 is very much in progress. The full chapter flow was already designed during the development of Chapter 1, and a good chunk of the groundwork is in place. That said, there's still several months of solid work left to do, and I currently can't afford to focus on it full time. I have to be realistic about how dev time is spent, so while I'm excited to return to Badgersaw, a release won't be happening in the near future. Chapter 1 didnt get much traction at launch. As my first commercial release, its been a huge learning experience, and Im proud of what I made. I believe the game has a future, it just needs a bit more time to find its audience. In the meantime, Im building that audience with Goblin Shaman and other upcoming projects. By creating new titles with the same heart and personality, I hope to grow a stronger community that can support a return to Badgersaw with all the love it deserves. Hey there Badger Brigaders! The demo of The Adventures of Badgersaw has been updated, and now much better reflects what you can expect from the final game. Updates include new and updated artwork, type font & more dialogue options between the main characters. There's also a new inventory/status screen where you can check out item descriptions and skills. If you haven't had the chance to play through the whole demo yet, or if you'd like to give it another go, now is the time!
Badgersaw is a dark comedy RPG in which 3 protagonists are forced to navigate a bizarre environment. The further they go, the more strange and unsettling things they encounter, but between constant arguments and a slew of protagonist banter, the three find themselves in deeper water than they anticipated.
The game is a hybrid between classic adventure games and dark fantasy RPGs. It has a heavy emphasis on dialogue and managing limited resources.
Completely hand illustrated
Dark world rich with lore
Unique protagonists with different strengths
Turn-Based synergistic combat system
Secret bosses and hidden content
An unrelenting stream of protagonist banter
Original Soundtrack capturing the peculiar atmosphere
The game presents an unsettling dark fantasy world from the perspective of three aloof adventurers simply trying to find a way out of a dungeon they accidently got trapped in. The game rewards forethought and preparation, and acting too carelessly may force you to finish your quest early.
Curious players will find their way out whilst also uncovering more about the dark machinations prevalent in the world around them. In particular dying and game over also results in narrative glimpses into how the character's relationships develop under stress, or provide insights into the world and its history. Multiple playthroughs are encouraged to find everything, and astute players will find ways to complete everything in a single playthrough.
The combat requires to player to synergize the strengths of the three members, who each have their own resource in lieu of traditional MP with different rules for each character. There is no simple way to restore HP, so the player will have to think about the long haul through the dungeon if they hope to uncover everything. Eventually, the party will unlock items, equipment and new abilities allow players to customize the protagonist's combat roles and develop a unique playstyle.
