Hello everyone, it's been a while since I updated things here on Steam. I just wanted to make a post to let people know that progress is, in fact, being made. I have worked on this project every single day since I started, and will continue to do so until it is finished. Plus now that my health issues are largely out of the way, I'm able to do things twice as fast as before. I've made a lot of progress since the last time I posted here. There is a super retro website now, though some of it is a work in progress. The rulebook is up on there though. I have also made two crappy trailers featuring wordart here and here and a full game I played explaining the basic mechanics here. Honestly, too much progress has been made and too much has changed to list it all here. The easiest way to see progress is to watch the basic gameplay video, since I just made it yesterday (the card gameplay and balance isn't good in that game though, it's just to explain and show the basic mechanics). The game is now largely playable against yourself for the two premade red and green decks, though I need to test it more. After I get back from my trip to Poland, I'll continue to clean up bugs but also probably make sure the rest of the cards in red and green are functional. Once those two colors are fully functional, I'll get some people other than me to try it out and help with balancing the cards. Also I added a future feature of Arcade style modes. These will be styled like Mario Kart cups, and you will have to use the same deck throughout the entirety of the cup. It will hold leaderboards in a few different categories, like high score, fastest time, and fewest moves. Mostly these past few months have been filled with debugging and getting everything to be largely functional. Which it is! Largely. The biggest priority is getting the card gameplay engine to work as smoothly as possible, so I can have other card game veterans help me with balance while I move over to work on the RPG parts of the game. I'll probably make another update on here in a few months. Until then, feel free to reach out, I'm most accessible on Discord and Bluesky (though other social media works too). Bluesky is also the best place to follow progress, as I post there every day. Until next time, Connor
Hello to whoever sees this, I don't really know how Steam announcements work. I figured I should probably give a short update as to what I'm working on. First, I need to do a lot more explaining about the game. I'm going to make a couple YouTube videos, one that is a general overview of the game and one which is a deeper dive into the card game mechanics. I do have a rough draft of a rulebook that is available in the Discord, but it is very rough and will be changed a lot. The next goal is being able to play the card game against yourself, so I can start to balance the cards themselves and have other people try the game a little bit. The deck building screen is functional now. You can filter with OR or AND with left and right click, add and remove cards, save and load. This way decks can be built to playtest the game. I'm currently working on implementing the game and card logic, as well as adding all the already made cards into the game. Once this is finished, I'll make it so you can play against yourself. After I play it a bit myself, I'll open it up to other people to help balance the card game. It will probably be wildly unbalanced from the get go, so everything is open for change, and I left myself plenty of room to still add more cards. The card editor will not be functional yet at this point, but the cards can still be edited easily but just opening up the JSON files. So anyone who is testing out the game mechanics can just edit whatever they think should be changed and then see how their changes work out. Getting the actual card game functioning will be my primary focus for the next couple months. Once it's functional, I'll be looking for people who are big card game players to help me playtest and balance the cards in the game. I'll probably make another update on here next time I hit a major break point, which is testing the card game mechanics. Until then, feel free to reach out, I'm most accessible on Discord and Bluesky (though other social media works too). Until next time, Connor
