More Hotfixes for Launch Bugs (1.00.3705)
ATTENTION JUMPERS! It's been hectic as a hive here at good ol' Graphite Lab as we address launch day issues. Thank you for the bug reports and feedback, please keep it coming so we can crush all bugs (of the code variety!).
Here are some issues we're aware of and are working hard to fix.
1) There are some instances where your jumper can clip through ceilings up a floor, or even into the out of bounds area around the level. We should have a fix for this tomorrow or Friday.
2) Multiplayer stability and performance. First, we're putting the beta tag back on the Online Lobby button to signify that we know there are issues and are working to resolve them. The two areas we need to improve on are Desyncs and Automatic Performance Handling.
At a basic level, Desyncs are caused by differences in the way players computers calculate things. We have a safety-net in place so that Desyncs don't end your runs. If a Desync happens, the backpack becomes invulnerable and when you enter a Relic Room Door or an Exit Door, the game attempts to Resync all relevant data so you can continue. Obviously this is just a safety-net, and we're working to resolve the root causes of the Desyncs. This will take more time and testing and we thank you for your patience.
Multiplayer performance being slow can be caused by 2 things. 1) Slow internet connection. 2) Poor hardware performance. To help mitigate slow internet connections, bump your "Input Delay" a bit higher than the highest ping of your players in the online lobby. To help improve your hardware performance, turn off Lighting in the Settings menu. Because the game is peer-to-peer, it can only run as fast as the slowest member of an online game.
We plan on improving multiplayer stability and adding systems that help automatically put settings where they should be for better performance in online play (but for now, you can take some of these steps manually.)
