On a regular grid, each cell has 8 neighbors, but in this case, they can have between 6 and 10. Therefore tiles can have 3 diagonals or 5 diagonals, which offers different moves depending on where a piece is.
This leads to games where have to tread more carefully, and use every opportunities to surprise your opponent.
Procedurally generated
Boards are procedurally generated on each game. This makes each game unique.
Pre-selected boards
We've pre-selected some boards. Some are either similar enough to a regular one, so that can ease into this new variant. Others are very different, so that you can really enjoy those new strategies.And If you love a specific board, you can always find again it via its name.
I've just added puzzles to Chess Twist. Those will allow you to play quick games, without requiring the same time commitment as a typical chess game.
There are currently 1200 different ones, of various difficulties. And I plan to add many more in the coming weeks and months.
Some puzzles should be really easy, giving a good taste of the new strategies in Chess Twist. And others should really challenge your gears.
For instance, in this one below, you can checkmate with black in 4 moves or less. Can you see how?
