We Launched 1 Month Ago and v1.0.3 is OUT!

Hey Galaxy Gamers, It's been almost exactly a month since we launched our game on March 27, 2025. We've been overwhelmed with the feedback, both positive and constructive. We just released an update to the game, v1.0.3, that contains optimisations, localisation fixes, new languages and bug fixes. More details about the changes are below.

v1.0.3 Update

Additions

  • Add new languages: Italian, Korean and Traditional Chinese.
  • Added some missing roles and names from the development team to the Credits screen.
  • (Single player) Add the ability to skip the dialogue during the medals presentation after a single player mission is completed.

Changes

  • The likelihood of minigames "Gastronomer" and "Puff Panic" to appear earlier was slightly increased.
  • Adjust the feeling of gravity for the thrown bombs in the minigame "Gravapult"
  • In the minigame "Gastronomer", add a label above the Gastronomer's head that appears when the Gastronomer eats players and scores points (+1, +2, etc)
  • Allow pausing in multiplayer during the countdown
  • (Single player) Edited some levels in Sparks single player challenges to make them more achievable
  • (Single player) Changed some time requirements for a few single player missions.
  • (Single player) During the dialogue at the beginning of a level, we changed Hold to skip, with a single press Skip dialogue
  • (Single player) Hid the "Coming soon" options for now. We want to update the game with new content in the single player campaign. But can't guarantee how soon we'll be able to do that.

Bug fixes

  • Fix the message on the welcome screen that mentioned wishlisting.
  • Fix localization issues that were sprinkled around the game. In some cases, certain labels weren't being localized. In other cases, the font wasn't being updated on some labels.
  • Fix some bugs in the minigame "Event Horizon". One bug sometimes caused notifications to appear too often on the right of the screen when ghosts would die. Another buy caused planets to sometimes be placed on top of one another.
  • Fix a music playback issue in single player when launching or being asked to launch the tutorial.
  • Change the method of rendering character outlines- it is more efficient.
  • The glyphs in the tooltips within the practice area change depending on the players that have dropped in.
  • Fix a soft lock that can happen in the single player menu if you spam the back button (to return to the title screen)
  • More small bugs and optimisations

We haven't yet updated the demo with all the changes above, but that will happen VERY soon! Thank you so much for supporting this small, Australian indie studio. We can't wait to start working on our next game. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2318660

What's Next?

We will continue to improve the game and fix bugs for another month or so, but after that we will stop focusing on Galaxy Games and move onto other projects. We do have some ideas for new games that will involve our Which Way Up Celestial characters. We are excited to prototype them and see how they feel. If you're interested in hearing more about that as it happens, make sure you follow our social channels below.

Which Way Up: Space Olympics is a family friendly party game that gives unique freedom of movement by allowing you to run on walls and ceilings, orbit around planets, or fall across entire levels by manoeuvring through gravity fields.

Before The Universe existed, the Space Sprites banded together one-by-one to see a dream come to fruition: the dream of life itself. As The Universe began to take shape, so too did space. But space is unpredictable, and creating life is tiresome work. So, the Sprites took it upon themselves to create a pastime. The Space Olympics.

Each event features its own unique bite-sized challenge where up to 4 players can compete. Eject your friends into space as you race across gravity fields, score a goal with an entire moon, leap across planets to escape a black hole, and capture and hold zodiacal constellations.

  • Gravity-bending platforming for up to 4 players locally and online using Steam Remote Play
  • 7 Space Sprites (5 unlocked in the Demo)
  • Hours of fun for family and friends of all ages
  • More than 10 Space Olympic events (6 unlocked in the Demo), including:

Overload

UNSTABLE ENERGY has infected one of the Sprites. Discharge the energy to another player before you OVERLOAD! Run away from the player who is overloading. Last Sprite standing WINS!

Star Ring

The Star Ring is the place to be: jostle with friends to remain in its roving and life-giving light, the only place that fills your scorebar. The first player to fill up their scorebar wins!

Comet Collect

Comets with high energy cores are valuable to the Space Sprites! Collect them before other players, so you can absorb their energy later. Keep control of the Comets by dashing around and nudging them with the Comet Push ability. Keep the opposition away and collect as many as you can in your own base.

Event Horizon

Players are being sucked into a supermassive BLACK HOLE!
Run, jump and platform away from its relentless suck—but don’t get too close to the opposition. Knock them off with your COMET PUSH ability (before they knock you off, of course) and be the last one standing!

Constellation Catch

Race across the universe to touch, hold and capture as many constellations as you can. Constellations are fickle beasts, though. Unless they’re captured, constellations can be stolen from under your nose! Protect yours and poach theirs: it’s a Canis-eat-Canis world out there.

Gravapult

Protect your own precious planet against the volley of the oppositions’ bombs while collecting and lobbing your own counter-offensive bombardment.

Fledgling Space Spirits compete and train together to learn how to one day become the next avatar incarnation of their respective cosmic concepts.

Sprout

A manifestation of biology and organic life, Sprout is a personification of nature and all living things.

Prism

A manifestation of light, Prism is a personification of electromagnetic radiation that can be perceived by the human eye.

Luna

A manifestation of Earth's only natural satellite, Luna is the embodiment of the night and Earth's shifting tides.

Sunny

A manifestation of the Star at the centre of our solar system, Sunny gives our home planet light and energy. Sunny has a close relationship with Prism and they both helped bring life to Sprout.

Maggie

A manifestation of the magnetic fields which allow objects to attract and repel each other. Maggie has the power to bring others together, or keep them apart.

Spark

Having shone for millions of years, Spark is the brightest of all the Spirits.

Orbit

A manifestation of the curved path objects can follow in space when affected by gravity. Orbit will sometimes stop by for a short visit, or they'll never leave.
