Hi everyone!
Here a new update of Planetary Life demo, and this time yes! This will be the last one unless I have to do some hot fixes related to bugs or balancing.
No more new features, no more additions until the game gets released :-)
In this new update you will find the following:
New features
- Added Observer option. This mode is ideal to leave the game running automatically. Instead of stay in a fixed point because of the inaction of the player, it will move the camera automatically focusing on major events. This option is ideal for long run streaming as well.
- In screen stand-alone message for most recent notification.
- Added individual mutation rate parameter for plants.
Changes
- Now vegetarians will eat plants and reduce the amount them, with a possibility of remove all vegetation in the area.
- Nutritional values of plants affect the hungry levels of creatures.
- Moved a bit away the planets ring to avoid being to close to the global camera.
Bugs fixed
- Fixed bug causing the game to freeze.
- Fixed bug applying wrong texture to creatures sprite animation.
- Fixed bug causing wild fire events to spawn in areas with no vegetation or water.
Also, here a summary of most important changes between version 0.5.0 and this update (ignoring previously mentioned changes, bug fixed and other minor stuff):
- Changed how evolution menu works: now you can do many changes, but each change will have a cost. At the end, the price of all changes will be subtracted from your energy.
- Added undo last change button to creature/plant editor to undo step by step all done changes and also to avoid players getting stuck.
- Improved rain effect.
- Mutated creatures will have a 25% chance to get adapted their temperature to the new location.
- Improved atmosphere, showing a bluer sky and stars at night.
- Now mutation rate artifact can change to decreasing the rate.
- Now reproduction rate artifact can change to decreasing the rate.
- Added artifact to change humidity in the area.
- Added mouth noises to creatures.
- Added proper omnivore, carnivore and vegetarian separated plots for Stats screen.
