That's right! Starting from April 28 at 10 AM PT, youll be able to check out a curated selection of war-themed gamesincluding ours! At the start of event, we'll also share a new demo with you. Speaking of which...

Demo Update (ver. 0.18)

Heres whats packed in the new update:

• Boss Level - A brand-new level type featuring an intense, original track composed just for this fight.
• Lviv Citadel HQ - A fresh location added to both the Hub and gameplay, featured in the first three levels.
• Morse Code Training - Ever tried Monkeytype? Now imagine that... with Morse code! Type out sentences under time pressure in this new minigame!
• Room Customization - Collect items throughout the demo and decorate your telegraphists quarters. Enter customization mode via the cardboard box in the Hub.
• Immersive Level Finish - Get your rank stamped by none other than Sergeant Feliks himself.
• New Cutscenes

Welcome, Telegraphists!

Today, we bring you something special: the announcement of our new demo! But first, lets dive into the latest changes and improvements in the game.

New Level Ending Screen

As you can see in the GIF above, weve streamlined the ranking system, reducing the number of ranks to just 5 for better clarity. And yes, were still tweaking the design, so 1 wont look like I in the final version!

New location - WW1 Trenches

In the early levels of the full game, youll be sending messages from within the trenches. While your placement may seem secure, this is the frontline - stay alert, as enemy forces can breach at any moment!

3D Cutscene - Siberia

As mentioned in previous devlogs, were working on 3D pre-rendered cutscenes, which will seamlessly integrate into our games hand-painted visual style. Here's one scene from the first one placed in the Siberia location.

GDC 2025 Recap

We showcased Telegraphist 1920 at GDC 2025! It was an incredible experience meeting the lead developer of Rhythm Doctor and the creators of a unique narrative rhythm game with psychedelic twist called Beat, Heart, Beat! Check out their demo! We also had great discussion about the evolution of narrative rhythm games, tracing back to classics like PaRappa the Rapper. Maybe in the future, we'll host our own narrative-driven rhythm game event, who knows ;)

Dear Telegraphists!

March has arrived, and so has a new devlog from the Telegraphist departament! We're planning to release new Demo Update this May, featuring some of the exciting things weve been working on. Not everything will be included, though. Theres still plenty more to come in the full version, and yes, well be revealing the release date soon... but you didnt hear it from us! Today, we're thrilled to share another core gameplay mechanic thats been part of our vision from day one...

Room Customization

You can now earn the honor to decorate your telegraphist's room with authentic historical items! Each item comes with its own rarity, determined by how you can unlock it. Some will require you to finish level with highest rank, some may require you to beat the level on Mastery mode. We're also working on displaying historical backstory for each collectible!

Next Stop: Warsaw Train Station

Weve been hard at work on a new location: the Warsaw Train Station. This is where your journey will lead after arriving from Lviv at the crack of dawn. Here, youll also meet a new character: Romek, a mischievous little hooligan. Beware though, Romek has a nasty habit of robbing your collectibles if you lose a bet. Better to keep your eyes on him!

Lviv Hub

We've been deep in the trenches to show you some of new ACT II that will be within the game, along with Lviv location. Additionally, we were working on 3D cutscenes and the frozen exile of Siberia Lets break it all down!

Welcome to Lviv (ACT II)

Warsaw Citadel (which is currently in Demo) was just the beginning! In ACT II, you step into Lviv Polytechnic, sending Morse code messages from a tenement flat deep inside the Lviv city.

We took Telegraphist 1920 across the sea to PG Connects London - and the UK gamers loved it! We met with various publishers and the future Nintendo Switch port looks promising!

New Demo

New demo is coming Tomorrow (Friday) at 7 PM GMT. We have worked on so many features that we think you will be very happy with the progress! New features include: Mastery System, New Animations, New Optional Tutorials, Full Controller and Steam Deck Support, New iteration of UI/UX and much more!

Full Controller and Steam Deck Support

(Including haptics and vibrations!) You can now play the demo with any controller and complete it from start to finish (only the Level Editor remains unsupported!).
(Oh mighty Valve, please add us to your manual queue for Steam Deck Verified! )

New Animations

RPG Mastery System

Recently, we were designing a system that would reward player for learning Morse code and at the same time satisfy rhythm players. Here's what we've come up with... Based on how many times you tapped properly Morse letters you now gain levels for each of them. You can track the experience points (XP) in the Hub:
Here you can see example of Mastery level in action: [previewyoutube=yV88cfq9phg;full][/previewyoutube] (Also: there will be English translation under Morse code text, if you can read fast enough!) As you can see this system could be a great foundation for learning Morse code and at the same time increase difficulty level. Just imagine other campaigns made by community trying to convey own messages, tell story with it. Level Editor is already finished to make custom levels, but we will definitely focus on more content for players and Steam Workshop integrity in the near future. REMEMBER. TOMORROW. AT 7 PM GMT. Welcome!

If you havent been following us on Discord recently (be sure to join our Discord), we recently attended Pozna Game Arena 2024, organized in collaboration with the Indie Games Poland Foundation. Huge thanks to them and our fellow exhibitors, especially FolkOrigin, who had a booth next to ours!
Alongside our immersive booth setup, we showcased a new private demo at the event! And guess what... weve just released a new update for the public demo on Steam. Now you can try out the new features yourself!

Changelog - Update 0.15.6-demo:

• New character in the Hub - Zosia. You can chat with her in Hub Levels 2, 4, and 6.
• New gameplay mechanic - Frequency Match. Use the arrow keys to match upcoming frequencies.
• Level 5 has been completely reworked for the new QTE mechanics.
• All levels are now better balanced for gameplay.
• Added a sound effect when you enter the "Missed" state during gameplay.
• Added highlights to specific parts of Morse code to assist with learning (were continuing to work on progression and learning features).
• Weather now affects the Hub and Gameplay, enhancing the emotional depth of the story.
• Improved Main Menu visuals.
• And much more...

Hello gents and ladies!

It's been a while as we've been cooking some new stuff under radar. But finally, we are ready to telegraph interesting messages to you!

New Telegraphist on Board

Following previous month, Julia joined us as a new graphic artist - she will be working on new characters, UI assets and marketing graphics. This new character (first concept) and new Key Art was created by her!

New Key Art

We discussed how to incorporate our vision to make the new Key Art consistent with the game and it's time to unveil new art for Telegraphist 1920: Beats of War. This fresh coat of paint will accompany you now on Steam page alongside with new logo:

Upcoming Steam Rhythm Fest

Telegraphist 1920: Beats of War is taking part in upcoming Steam Rhythm Fest 2024. Starting from 19 August 10 am PDT we will share a new demo for this very occasion.

New Demo

Along with new key art, we have been working on content for new demo including some new gameplay mechanics, more visual effects and preparing Level Editor... ...to be used by everyone! That's right! We'll be putting alpha version of Level Editor publicly available for everyone. So you can create your own levels, save and send to your friends. With that, we will also soon announce level contest on our Discord server, so if you aren't there... what are you waiting for?!

To honour the upcoming Polish Constitution Day on the 3rd May, Telegraphist 1920: Beats of War is taking part in the Polish Constitution Days event in partnership with CD-Action. This means that from 3rd to 10th May at 7:00 PM CET you will be able to play the demo on Steam.

• We are in the process of reworking the game from the ground up, which includes implementing several new features...
• One such feature is the HQ room (Hub), in which you can freely explore between levels, talk to characters to dive deeper into the lore, read historical archives, and much more...

Salute to our telegraphists! Telegraphist 1920: Beats of War is taking part in DreamHack Beyond! The event is a celebration of all indie games, so if you like to experience experimental games you can find event here. In addition to participating in DreamHack Beyond, we are sharing a new demo with developer livestream until December 21st. This new demo includes some of the community requested features, such as more levels, new cutscenes, more accessibility options and better gamepad support (but we are still working on it). We haven't focused much on gameplay aspects from last demo (right now we are in the process of prototyping and designing new mechanics). Join our Discord to actively shape and contribute to the game's development.
