GearHead Caramel v0.976: Pirate's Point Perfected

It's been a while but the next release is here! Thank you for your patience.
The biggest change this time around is the fact that the Raid on Pirate's Point scenario is finally complete. The districts of the city have been detailed and many now feature unique quests. There are five different endings, each of which can vary slightly depending on your actions during the campaign. The ending you get has consequences that will carry forward to future scenarios. Speaking of future scenarios, I'm calling Raid on Pirate's Point the last scenario of GHC Season One. What does that mean? When I start releasing the next bunch of scenarios- Plastic Island Panic, Shopper's Paradise, Summer Dolce- I will probably raise the price of the game from $10 to $15. It was either that or release them as DLC. If you have already bought the game, then great! You will get all the new adventures for free! If you have not yet bought the game, you have until I finish Plastic Island Panic to buy it at its current low price! Other changes include better random names, revamped screen scaling code, mutually exclusive merit badges, new mecha and content, bug fixes and quality of life improvements. Here's the complete list:

  • Fixed a bug in the containers unit!
  • Merit badges may have contra badges which get removed if badge earned
  • Removed unusued and not working android import from pbge; if android support added later, will need to rewrite anyhow
  • Added config troubleshooting option to disable scaling altogether
  • Reworked screen scaling; can now manually set fullscreen resolution
  • Fixed error causing jobless NPCs
  • Faction based reaction modifier has been adjusted
  • Fixed bug with conversation visualizer when NPC has reaction score of -100
  • Rewrote name generator for hopefully more readable results
  • Configured nuitka build, in case I ever need to change packager again
  • Added ending to Raid on Pirate's Point
  • Added relay plots
  • Lancemate hire cost is at least $10,000
  • Loading a dynamic plot now correctly sends an UPDATE trigger
  • If changing team in world map war, player may become enemy of previous faction
  • Fixed problems with factionless shops
  • Fixed bug with text editor widget
  • Added more quests to Raid on Pirate's Point
  • Columns decor should not overwrite waypoint terrain
  • Fixed bug with non-singleton city tags in bugs
  • PC should now automatically reject most missions against favorable factions
  • Automatic area invocations can be invoked with "accept" key or clicking icon
  • Automatic area targeters no longer need to be targeted
  • Fixed prev_invo invoker UI bug
  • Added cruise movemode
  • Fixed SimpleMonologueDisplay grammar error
  • Destroyed sound fx now based on material
  • Added slash anim for melee attacks
  • Fixed bug with mecha being excluded from missions due to movement modes
  • Added civilian ship megaprop
  • Added Doom Buggy mecha

It's been a year since the Typhon Incident, when a biomonster from the Age of Superpowers awoke and rampaged across the Earth. Aegis Overlord, having consolidated power on Luna, begins preparation to extend their domination across the solar system. The L5 Alliance attempts to maintain a fragile peace while their member-states bicker and war among themselves. To make matters worse, the cyberpop band Love Magnet just announced that they're splitting up. I trust that all of you know what this means.

It's time to fire up your giant robot and go do some stomping.

GearHead Caramel is a turn based tactics style scifi mecha Roguelike RPG set in a world recovering from the apocalypse. Take control of an immensely powerful mecha, build a team of unique lancemates, and change the future for better or worse. This is the third game in the GearHead series, though you don't need to have played the previous two to jump right in. Your character can play through a series of adventures set in various times and places in the GearHead universe. Currently there are two adventure modules, with more to follow.

Features include:

  • Procedural Narrative: The game is different every time you play it. In addition, the game world will react to your decisions. NPCs remember their past interactions with you and will treat you accordingly.
  • Both Mecha and Personal Scale Combat: GearHead may be a mecha game, but that doesn't mean there's nothing to do on foot. You can explore dungeons, negotiate peace treaties, replace body parts with cybernetics, and even get swallowed whole by gigantic biomonsters.
  • Detailed Mecha Build System: Upgrade your mecha with parts from the customization shop or taken as salvage from missions. There are dozens of standard mecha to choose from, ranging from giant sword-wielding robots to city-levelling tanks. You can even design new mecha from scratch, but be warned- you might end up facing your own designs in combat!
  • Lifepath Based Character Generation: A GearHead character is more than just a collection of stats. You can allow the game to give you a random life story, or make every decision along the way by yourself. Using the portrait builder you can customize the appearance of your character.
  • Party Dynamics: Your adventuring companions have their own abilities and personalities. Their relationship with you will change depending on your choices, their choices, and a variety of other factors. Will your team become a tight knit found family? Or will they take the first opportunity to go through your pockets and leave your body in a ditch?
