I thought ardour was a semi-free program which you have to compile yourself to get full functionality for free. I tried to install it once, but it was some kind of trial and I could only record about 2 minutes on the timeline.

I forgot to mention that the software goes silent after ten minutes of _use_. not recording time

@@Kyjorei I just checked. When you go on ardour.org, click on download and choose your OS, you will get to a page where you will be asked to pay, download a demo-/trial-version with many limitations or compile the software yourself (see FAQ).
