A little late to the thread, but be aware there's a huge difference between Lenovo's "consumer-grade" models and business models. The business-model Thinkpads were made by IBM back in the day, and they're pretty dang solid. Long-story-short, they're basically Jeeps of the computer world, and they have a similar following such as on /r/Thinkpad. :P

Kylinux Cast Excellent! Tutorials would be great! I have 3 children and ive introduced all of them to programming but we havnt been consistent. We never used Linx before..dont anything about it. A short video about the difference between it and windows - pro n cons would be great.

Nice video pal ! I bought the x230 about 7 months ago and still works fine, it runs on a quad core i7 though so it is pretty fast and durable build. Except for one time where it constantly shut down and it is apparently a common problem on this model, but it is in fact just a poorly applied thermal paste so watch out for this one :). I also installed Linux on it, tried several distros, and works like a charm, it is a really good machine for work. The gaming aspect would be debatable, I mean I could run Wow and regular games but with an Intel HD graphics 4000 integrated GPU you cannot really go far in the gaming spectrum :). Once again, nice video, wish you the best!

Dunne. 2 gb of ram the minimum requirements for windows 10. If you're lower then 2 gb ram. You're using a dinosaur. Most laptops come with 4 gb.

Kylinux Cast thanks brother I appreciate that I'm a black brother myself because I do watch a lot of animation on crunch roll myself and that's my hobby watching a lot of anime for the last 10 years but I also I've been using Linux Mint since 2015 and also I just recently bought IBM ThinkPad on the Lenovo T 400 and I just install Elementary OS on it cuz I don't like Google Chrome on Elementary OS it keeps crashing but I have no problems with Firefox browser I just finished all my work the other day and I'm suing be planning on watching a lot of anime on there thanks for the tips and I love your Linux videos

I got a refurbished P51s and put Ubuntu on it. after changing the repository, I for it to install the NVIDIA drivers for it. Really nice. You would be surprised what Lenovo hardware will take, Linux-wise.

Thank you so much - a very nice piece of hardware. I love ThinkPads, espeially the X2xx and T4xx series (I'm currently typing this on an T460s - love this laptop, picked it up for about the same price you paid for the X230). Second-hand X230's are much cheaper now too, by the way :) Although I don't think many come with that gorgeous IPS display you have on yours.

Windows 10 works very well on those retro Lenovos. I'm a bit surprised with my T430 and I want to tinker with another that could run Linux. The T430 has it's jobs now. I fell in love with a Solus Distro where many things works for me from the start, but it's on a Dell for now.

i run my X230 (i5) with a 240gb ssd and an msata 240gb and a gtx 750 ti oc eGPU (external gpu using exp beast dock), u shud defo try an eGPU with ur x230, will help boost that gaming performance to no end!

If you get a express card egpu dock, then you can even get more performance by installing a Nvidia gt 800 series GPU on this laptop ;) I managed to get many games running with this laptop on low to mid settings (with v-sync crap disabled)
