It is a good idea to remove the Linux formatted HDD to prevent Winblows from formatting the Linux partitions.

@@Kyjorei Thank you very much for your response. I have two drives, an SSD that boots windows and a HDD that I use for storage. I want to install Ubuntu on a 150 GB partition in the HDD. @@Kyjorei I have two HDD, is it possible to install ubuntu in the second drive without disconnecting the first one that has windows? I'm asking because I have a laptop and it's not easy for me to open it. Also, it would be best if I didn't have to erase the entire second drive. Is it doable?

Enjoyed the video ! heading to WorstBuy to get a Windows install usb or whatever. The reason I need windows is that I am trying to update the Chipset and sound drivers and other motherboard data files and I cannot do that with Linux Mint 19.1. Just not possible, I don't think.(?) I updated the Bios via USB stick to the current one. Having some motherboard issues with 2-3.0 USB ports showing an over-current. I tested the ports with a usb tester and they test absolutely perfect. They even work fine. I think it's a Chipset issue. So I wanted to upgrade the chipset and see, but I can only do that with Windows. It's a Dell Precision T3610 Workstation running 3.9ghz Hexcore and 32gb of ram. Picked it up for $375, (NewEgg) Linux is awesome. I tried PopOS. It's neat, but not for me. Thanks for doing the Video. Will try that this afternoon. !!

"...Not because linux doesn't provide everything I need..." *LIKE* Dear Anyone who cares, I have a extra laptop that I put linux mint on just to play with because I was curious. (This sounds like a gay experience lol) My main laptop has an i7 w/ 16gb ram and Windows 10. Now, 3 months later, my personal experience is that my linux laptop with an i3 and 4gb ram runs exceptionally better than my Win 10 laptop! I'm watching this video because I bought a disk drive to hdd caddy adapter tray to put ubuntu studio (0 experience wirh ubuntu) on my main laptop as my new primary OS. I was once a doubter, now, I'm a linux convert and twice the nerd I already was... Sincerely, Just another guy on the internet with an opinion...

I'm running Windows (reluctantly, and rarely), Mint Cinnamon, i3, Mate, and xfce with tiling (thanks Kylinux for that tutorial), Regolith for i3 on 19.04 Ubuntu, and Gnome (for that Guh-nome Experience) and i3 on 18.04 Ubuntu. Multibooting is no sweat. I just don't update the boot loader except from Cinnamon. Any distro that forces updating Grub during installation hasn't lasted long, for any number of reasons. I'm still mostly noob.

I have an old PC from 2013 (still working perfectly fine as it was high end) but i also bought Samsung SSD. But i would buy M2 MVME if i where you, you seem to have modern motherboard right? If you can, you should always buy M2 MVME. I can't.. I also want to use Ubuntu as a daily. But i have looked to the games that i play, i can get it to work on Linux. But other Niche stuff, i can't !! Like for example, i love to make music with Fruity loops, and all the synths plugins.. It's a mess on linux. I don't mind switching to Windows 10 for making music. Bought 2 TB SSD for linux, my old 250GB 830 will be for Windows 10 music, and other niche Windows programs that i use less. Whatever people say, ubuntu is just a GOOD everyday linux release. I love there are all kind of different distro's. Thats fine. I just want to do my stuff.

Hi Kyle! Hope you can help me out. I just snagged a great deal on a laptop. It came with Win 10 on NVMe & an open slot to add another SSD drive. I installed the SSD & want to put Mint onto it. However, during boot to the USB installer for Mint, it only "sees" the SSD, not the NVMe. I was told that during installation, I needed to choose, "something else", in order to create my Mint partitions (swap, /, /home, + a small "shared" space for both OS's). I was further told to install the bootloader onto the Windows drive. Is this correct? I don't see how I can do that last step when Mint doesn't see the Windows drive at all. Help??

I have an AMD platform. I have a Windows 10 NVMe drive on my drive, but I also have a second SSD that I want to install Ubuntu on. I created a bootable USB flash drive (with the program - Rufus). I want to install Ubuntu without disturbing the Windows 10 (NVMe) disk structure. Is that enough - I will change the boot order in UEFI / BIOS. - first it will be SSD and then NVMe. - restart the computer (connect the USB flash drive) - I will install Ubuntu. After installation and reboot, only Ubuntu will start // Start Windows 10 - I'll change the boot order back - first NVMe then SSD and Windows 10 won't show anything related to Ubuntu? And when it wants to boot Ubuntu, I will hit F12 while my computer boots up and choose the SSD. I think right?

I just got an IVY DOCK Dual 2.5" SSD caddy and linux has trouble starting even though one one SSD is live at at time so there's no boot loader conflict, it's behaving very wierdly. I certainly hope its that easy.
