When the launcher opens it asks me to update DirectX and then gives an error. I can't get beyond that. Any tips?

Sounds like you missed a step, either launched the launcher without using the prefix or didnt install directx9/d3dx9 in winetricks. Use a fresh prefix and follow my written guide here: https://www.gloriouseggroll.tv/ffxiv-arch-linux-wine-staging-2-4-works-beautifully/

are you running a fresh install or from a previous install? I had a problem before with a pre-existing install that was a bit outdated (hadnt played in a few months)

you will need to enable csmt via registry then. it isnt turned on by default WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/path/to/ffxiv/prefix wine regedit hkey_current_user>software>wine>direct3d>new dword>csmt>1

I've got it running in wine 2.6 non-staging, since that has csmt now. Can't figure out what could be the issue.

sounds like its having a problem connecting. if you're running it in lutris make sure to disable the lutris runtime. it also works in wine 2.6 staging

I installed wine-staging but I do not have a staging tab what am I doing wrong. I am using Debian btw

found my issue a wine tutorial I was using had me install an old version I got it fixed now.

no guide for ubuntu, but you can use lutris and run the lutris installer on their website, just search for final fantasy xiv under games, i wrote that installer

i use vfio + looking glass for windows games that dont run through wine, but i still prefer wine for some games as its better than splitting all your computer's resources in half. not to mention having to use 2 gpus if you dont have an igpu, and vfio runs better if you're able to dedicate a seperate ssd to it.. its costly, but it works

staging needs to be compiled with -W server-send_hardware_message option. My wine version should cover that https://gitlab.com/GloriousEggroll/ge-wine read the readme for PBA options, or use it with DXVK

Hi everyone ! i followed this tuto and it worked ! thanks GloriousEggroll ! However, since the last update it doesn't work ... So, i know i can't update directly on linux (i didn't know there was a new update at this moment). Then i uninstalled the game and restart this tuto from begin but after installation & copy past the game (from a win7 pc to this pc linux) i have an "error 404 : https system error" when i switch browsertype to 2. I tried to uninstall the game & reinstall from lutris (same error). I tried to uninstall & reinstall all wime installs (wime staging wimetricks ...) and reinstall the game after (same error). I begin to be desesperate ... Someone can help me ? Maybe Glorious Eggroll ! That would be great ! Thanks !

just use the lutris installer and change the runner to the latest lutris version. it should work ootb with the default launcher.
