@@DavideDavini So, I just retested. Turned it up to High Graphics, but I left the dynamic resolution on at a target of 60 fps... I got a pretty steady 45. There wasn't any performance hitches that affected game play.

@@gamingonlinux The big issue I saw was disabling the dynamic resolution. Even modern consoles just do that for you. I set the target to 60 FPS. I think I MAY have turned it down to low graphics and DX12. I think I dipped into the low 50s/upper 40s FPS in that same boss battle.

Well, this game annoyingly doesn't have a slider but only set values like 30, 60 etc. So rather than forcing 30, i prefer to get that bit extra for the frametiming and input lag so limit the deck to 40 or 45.

Having a lower target FPS can help with reaching that FPS, improve frame time consistency, and make FPS drops stand out a bit less if the drop is nearer to your lower target than 60 or whatever it was before

you'd be surprised what having the fps and screen refresh rate match does. I find myself lowering it to 40hz, 40fps even if a game will do 60 just because it's big battery life gains

Nah, I think it just means Valve's verification testing is not as thorough nor as strict as they claim it is. They're also seemingly very bad at going back and retesting unsupported titles.

Remember to restart Kena: Bridge of Spirits for the changes to take effect. Due to the dynamic resolution, I recommend turning on motion blur, although this is your individual choice. It will reduce artifacts resulting from image scaling. Also don't use the Framelimiter from SteamOS UI, use only the refresh rate and set to 40.

Turn off dynamic resolution, that's the reason. It looks great at native resolution and a mix of medium, high and low settings.

I just started Jedi Fallen Order on my desktop (also Linux), and I was surprised at all the shader cache stuttering. It was really obvious that was the issue I was seeing. It's mostly during the 'cut scene' type parts, but it is a bit annoying. Is it just as bad on Windows?

I really don't blame developers for doing that. Hundreds of games come out all the time and it's often the difference between a developer making money and not. We want more games right? Blame the industry as a whole, not individual devs :P
