Not required. Microsoft love to tell you to use Edge but it makes no difference, especially now but this will work in Edge too you just need to change the Konsole terminal command to com.microsoft.Edge instead of com.google.Chrome at the end.

Recently measured input lag on the steam deck using the batting cage in Persona 5. There is some, of course, but it's so minor that it can sometimes feel like the server I'm streaming from is in my house.

Is there any benefit to using Chrome over Edge? When I initially set it up I was following a video that did it on Edge. I can change it if it’s worthwhile me doing so, just wasn’t sure.

Not really, it comes down to personal preference at this point. I show Chrome because it's massively more popular than Edge.

Thanks, I have few questions : - can we remove this part to force native resolution : --window-size=1024,640 --force-device-scale-factor=1.25 --device-scale-factor=1.25 ? - should we be able to use any controller ? Docked I can't use my steam controller in xcloud, but the controller works fine with anything else. I can use 8bit do controller with xcloud, but I would understand why I can't with my favourite docked controller ^^' Thanks again !

As said above is the correct answer. If you use the jack, you don't get the built-in voice.

Still not excusable that M$ forces usage of windows for pc gamepass users and refuses to support native running on the deck. I could care less about "cloud gaming", they're trying to push, it's not the future and it's not what we need or want - the demise of stadia is the proof of that.

I have pretty good internet - 800mb/s down and xcloud is unfortunately completely unplayable on wifi for me. I don't see any improvements when trying on chrome or edge even after their update you talk about. Should I be worried that my wifi chip in my deck is bad? Deck works flawlessly for everything else i've tried but xcloud I haven't had much success with even with all my tinkering.

@@gamingonlinux For you or anyone else who cares - I ended up resolving my streaming issue by switching to my 2.4Ghz wifi band. No idea why but Xcloud works perfectly when using 2.4 Ghz.

@@gamingonlinux Oh no! It feels great on my phone even with touch controls lol. Hmm. I wonder if something is wrong with my wifi card on my deck then? It's buttery smooth on my phone. Whereas on deck it'll desync with controls/audio within 30 seconds on wifi.

Oddly enough I figured it out right after I posted that. I was using the google chrome from the pop shop. Using the one from Googles site and it worked right off the bat.

Necromancing an old video here - XCloud is a treat. I use it on my Linux laptop and Quest 3 headset. It works amazingly well, except, for latency sensitive games, such as Fortnite which you specifically mentioned. I keep coming back to try it, but alas, I find it unplayable. Perhaps it is location dependent. Even though latency is claimed to be less than 25ms to the datacenter it is near impossible to aim in the heat of battle, regardless of whether I play with an XBox controller or keyboard and mouse. So I give the first person shooters a skip and enjoy all the other titles. I also noticed in the Quest headset that the video shows quite a bit of compression artifacts but that might be more related to my limited Internet speeds which is regrettably only available at 50 Mbps in my area.

If you really must use Edge for whatever reason: you just need to change the Konsole terminal command to com.microsoft.Edge instead of com.google.Chrome at the end. To answer questions: there's no real difference between Chrome and Edge for this. Chrome is just vastly more popular and so I use and show that.
