Really like your cut-and-dry content that is not clickbaity, hype and not overly long just to implement more adds. Lots of users are on purpose overenthusiastic to attract more viewers at the expense of quality of their content. You're one of the few content producers who actually makes good informative content. Also liked that you redid your Callisto Protocol benchmark after you noticed it could be done better. Other content creators often just blindly ignore it or even defend their bad way of doing things. You actually took feedback into account and tried to do better :) Doing good man, know that it is frustrating that other content creators, like Deck Ready, doing things with more clickbait, hype and less informative and still getting more views than you. But just keep in mind that you're actually doing it right, that you have a good-quality site and that you do something you like; reporting about Linux gaming :)

From the beginning I always said I wanted to do things differently, and a lot of what I do is the exact opposite of what the YouTube algorithm loves. I hate shouty people, i hate stupid face thumbnails and i dislike videos 20 minutes long that can be done in 5 minutes. I make videos like I want to see basically. Thanks for the kind words :)

I cant imagine how complex the proton layer is when moving the right stick on a particular screen causes a crash, and the fix invalidates the game shaders

It's a fix in the GPU drivers, so it's not a Proton issue.

I had that crash on pretty much all games thats shows in death stranding were black screen flickers feeze, and valve ruled as a GPU defect. So waiting on replacement now.

It's possible, but this is why Valve keep older versions of Proton around in case you need them. Make a note of what version they work in before swapping, so you know what to go back to if the latest doesn't work.

If it doesn't download automatically. On Desktop mode. Library tab. Left side above games is a dropbox labeled games. Click it and check Tools to add Proton versions to the list. On game mode on Steam deck. Library. Click Search bar to reveal Tools on the page. Locate it on there.

Without a doubt, the Steam Deck is the best thing that happened to Linux in terms of massive adoption rate, especially when it comes to PC gaming in general. As a long-time user of Sabayon, Ubuntu and Zorin OS, this excites me. Now made into Arch Linux user. Despite having 15 years of Linux (dabbled on and off), Steam OS is generally excellent. It is user-friendly and similar to Windows, making it easier for newbies to try and adopt as their first Linux distro. Steam OS is probably the most exciting distro I have tried, mainly because of the rapid development cycle compared to the others. I imagine this is how a Tesla driver feels when their vehicle downloads a new feature or better performance on their car out of nowhere.

If not you have a strong will to play those games you'll use heroic game launcher or flow the community guide on how to make them work on steam deck, quite frankly there is no excuse for most games.

@@imacmill That is true, though I was thinking more in line with the steam deck hardware or similar to beelink PC (AMD Ryzen CPU). When I learned about them about a year ago, I immediately thought it would be perfect for running Steam OS for the TV as a media center console. That was before the release of the Steam Deck.

Proton has nothing to do with being online or offline, it’s a compatibility layer. Some games have always on DRM.
