Isn't the new update selector just displaying the same things in a different way? It looks like "Preview" is SteamOS and Steam beta, whereas "Beta" is just Steam client beta.

My Steam Deck is getting better every update. This is the reason I went with the Steam Deck, the great support from Valve and not wait for the more powerful 6800u devices coming out soon. I do fancy getting a Aya Neo Next 2 , the one with the touchpads but i'm not sure how well its going to be supported in like software and repair. Thanks for keeping us up to date :)

Tbf you can install steamOS on some of those devices but yeah, Valve's support is a good reason why I'm sticking with my steam deck. They have a lot of leverage to push game companies to make Linux gaming better.

I would really love it if valve let you pick where vulkan shader caches are stored for proton without having to symlink, preferably in the actual game folders the game is installed to so that even if you have games on a microSD card you can swap it out and nothing about it will take up any room on your main hard drive.

My deck is docked about 90% of the time, and I have had so few issues in the last 3 weeks. I'm not even really feeling pushed to get on the Beta side of things, as I'm actually really happy with the current version. These are just added bonus features for me, and I'll wait for them to hit Stable.

@@SwissyChief1265 oh my bad should've been more clear. If I use fsr to upscale 720p to 4k will it look like trash. I've a switch hooked up to the 4k tb and didn't really care about the visuals.ive also heard about running the desktop in 1080p how does that work isn't the steam deck only 800p maximum

i check this rdr2 fix after work in about 7h. was fighting with this game for few days to get it run. hope after reinstall (to keep it at fresh, vanilla version) it run smoothly. maybe you can do quick video updated status of rdr2 and what settings would be best for it via in game settings and deck itself too? there's no video or even written guide for rdr2 on web for best settings

@@joeynexus4525 I use those settings: After reinstall flip few switches just to be more sure it won't crash and to not put as much strain on deck as possible (I love to care for things I got): ---------- Video: -res: 1280:720 windowed -Vsync OFF and all next 3 settings off too Textures high (down from ultra, can't see much difference and takes much stress of graphic card) ---------- Graphics: - Textures on High (IMO same as ultra but less strain on GPU) - Anisotropic filter - off - low - low - low - low - ambient occlusion - medium - reflection - low - low - low - low - low - low - TAA - off - FXAA - off - MSAA - off ---------- Advanced settings: LOCKED (left as default from reinstalled preset) I have 512gb version with fastest SSD and some space left on it too (think about 50gb at least). I think reinstall game help and then just lower stuff to my list and you won't see difference as much (I don't see any). Run benchmark and if it go fine without issues (no crash) then you should be good as gold my friend. It takes 10sec about to load benchmark and then videos are about 5min. In deck itself I got restriction to 40fps and rest as default

That’s because you have a 4K TV, but the cable is only 4k@30 hz capable and the steam deck will always output at the highest resolution of the detected display. At least until they release an update for this so you can choose 1080@60. Or you could buy a 4k@60 capable adapter/dock. Or play from desktop mode, you can change the resolution and frame rate from there.

Regarding the Firefox problem: Versioning is (sadly) a mess. The version is only an indicator regarding security vulnerabilities. Security fixes are often backported to older versions, which means that an older version might not have these known vulnerabilities, but you cannot see it by looking at the version number. So the interesting question is who maintains this firefox version in the repo and whether security fixes get backported to it.

I did this but the performance is still bad when docked to a 4K TV in Gaming Mode. Guess the bug with the automatic upscaling when docked to 4K TV still isn't fixed? SNES on RetroArch runs like 15 Frames when I Dock it to the TV. In handheld mode it runs great.

my external screen is stuck at 1024x768 in gamer mode unless i go into desktop mode and upscale it to 1080p. They claimed they have released an update that adds the resolution selection but i dont see it anywhere in beta. Gamer mode is still broken and stuck at low res
