I'm surprised they didn't take off better yknow. I remember playing xcom on the big telly with it and it was fantastic. I dont think there was any real controller support for them at the time. Yeah your right saying you can basically have the buttons doing what you wish, if they have carried over the same configuration options from the pad then basically the skys the limit. And its no effort to make your own configs too.

@@GScrubb181 Agreed. That’s partly why I am so keen to see how they function. I’ve never owned a Steam pad but saw a NerdNest video a few months back that went into great detail as to how buttons can be bound and the depths to how controls can be configured and mapped. My understanding is that this is very similar to the Deck. That being said though, I’m eager to see RTS games and ones similar to the ones I mentioned previously to see how they function in practice.

Hopefully if they have a similar feel to the steam pad I will be using them a lot. The touch pads on the steam controller were a game changer in bringing rts and strategy games to other platforms as such.

@@gamingonlinux I did notice they were in action…. I guess I meant throughout the entirety of the test - but fair enough - that wasn’t the purpose of the video. There was never a hint of criticism at all though!! 🙂 Maybe a video fully demonstrating the trackpads capabilities would be a good shout, not binding keys, creating wheels or setting up layers or the versatility of the software as such - solely focused on how they perform in games that you’d specifically play with a mouse and keyboard. Another one, Kingdoms and Castles. Kinda a ‘trackpad only showcase’ 🤔 But yeah, your videos are really good.

Since it's using about 16.5 watts it will last almost 2.5 hours by my calculation (40 / 16.5). If it's locked at 30fps it would last longer. Maybe 3.5 to 4 hours.

@@blessedvb Ive thought about this, and I feel like you could pretty easily use the touchscreen for a lot of actions, the only hard one would be combat and you can just pause for that though, with bluetooth you could easily get a foldable keyboard thats easily pocketable for 20 bucks and a small mouse and get a jackstand case, which is what im going to do with mine, this is perfect for rimworld and adventure mode dwarf fortress which are my 2 favorite single player games

@@CrystallineLore I play on the secound largest map, like always, and my late game colonies are generally at the 50+ colonists range. It doesn't lag often, but when a raid comes, specially a tribal raid, that can come at like 200 raiders, than it lags quite a bit I have a ryzen 7 5800x, so definitly not a weak pc point is, my pc is waaaay more powerfull than a deck, I'd like to see if the deck would be able to handle a 50+ colonists colony edit: Oh yeah, also, whenever I get 2 colonies, like when I go mine another piece of the map, and stuf like that, the lag goes crazy. Im not saying that the game doesn't warn you about that, cause it does, but these are things I play with every single colony I have, and I can't think of playing rimworld without it, so I'd like to see how it runs

@@mathdantastav2496 Super PC I guess, because I'm pretty sure most people end up at around the same endgame point. Still, it's probably just that your PC probably isn't good or is lagging behind on something, as I've seen people play modded big battles or have super colonies with tons of additional mod shit have zero lag. Most of my mods just change gameplay aspects. And uh, yeah, I guess if you play on mega-size maps or mod map sizes you might lag...? The game warns you about that so, uh?

"Why must good things come to rich people first?" Because they have money to pay for it, duh? The Deck does cost more than competing products, BUT the vast majority of competition in this scene is articifially subsidizing entry costs because they can force the user into their ecosystem and that's how they'll eventually turn profit. You can't buy a Nintendo game from anyone else than Nintendo, etc.
