Hi there, first day with my deck. It does not give me the option of launching valheim with vulkan, only with OpenGL. Performance is ridiculous, it reaches only 25-30fps. What can it be?

@@Matruchus nope, even rtx 2060 at lowest settings can drop fps from 60 at mountine biom in blizzard(but not tested with new patch), also storm in ocean can be very demanding

Probably with FSR enabled it could hit 60fps and lower the battery usage.

It should play around the same. Forests are fairly demanding. The worst will be in a base with a lot of smoke going on or portals. My guess is it drops to around 30fps in that case based on the 40-45 its showing here

Glad you like them! I always keep it on for videos as it's a *very* important thing for people to actually see performance. I've seen a lot of videos showing games, but explaining nothing and claiming all things about performance but not actually showing it correctly.

One of the best vids on Valheim + steam deck that I've seen. Thanks for testing out and showing a lot of the basic mechanics! I was really interested when you started to use the game pad instead of the normal controller for looking.

It's a mixture of things. Brightness levels in the room and the Deck, this is also the 256GB model, so reflections and glare happen which I cannot remove of course which adds to it. We have the 512GB model in reservation, so future videos whenever it arrives in Q2 will have far less light glare on the screen as that model has the anti-glare screen,

It's actually really comfortable on the left stick :), the right trackpad is where it's a bit annoying but the right thumbstick is also comfortable.

seeing performance at game intro is kind of irrelevant. build a huge base with lots of fires and terrain modification lets see what Steamdeck can really handle.

@@gamingonlinux thats disappointing. at the beginning of the game its easy to get 100+ FPS on PC but once you build even people with RTX 3090's are dropping into the 20-30 FPS range. thats the performance benchmark that really needs to be seen on this

Knowing me. I’d be near a charger half the time I use the deck so otherwise I feel battery life isn’t a huge issue. But In cases I’m on the go and wanna play a pc game. An hour or two is plenty enough for a play session.

One year later and the game is just as unplayable as it was before. It’s OK in the first 2 biomes, but starting with the swamp the fps never goes over 15fps despite playing with everything to the minimum. The Deck fanboys should stop lying for a second because these idiotic lies don’t help at all, anyone. Game is unplayable and needs optimisation, and not only on the Deck.
