Idk why exactly but I really don't like HD art in platformers. Playing a pixel art game is like reading a good book, it stimulates your cerebral cortex just enough to know what's going on but you have to make up the details on your own. Whatever you imagine to fill the blanks is way better than what the author actually meant because it's yours, it makes you a co-creator in a sense, at least when it comes to your own experience. Can't argue the visuals are beautiful, the detailed pictures punch all the right spots to give that immediate gratification. It's just, personally, I prefer a subtle tickle.
